 But you shouldn’t treat people who write articles online the same as the rest of us.  Those people should get the dignity of being called the smart experts that they deserve.  Us mortals don’t deserve that.

You sure like to state what others "seem to find" with zero references. It is truly no skin off my nose either way. 

Again, I think the vitriol from the left...now but not then...is comical. And completely on brand. 

 
Personally, I don't really recall a time when 'the left' as a monolith was enamored with Musk and treated him as one of their own. I think liberal sentiments regarding him have always varied, and started to sour much earlier than his current persona has materialized. Either way, I don't see what's confusing or remarkable about people changing their minds about someone in response to that person's behavior and presented personality also changing.

Since this discussion stemmed from my comments.  To be clear, I have never liked Elon.  That goes way back to before he ever became political.  His actions with Tesla stock proved him to be an immature idiot when it comes to how to treat people and be a responsible leader.  Back then, other than his marketing to save the world from global warming, I didn't know squat about his politics and didn't care.

I specifically pointed to the Stepfanie Tyler tweet you posted in the Shed to better explain yourself. 

And Stepfanie definitely had some fangirl takes on the subject, a bit comical in her own right. 

And again, why is it so hard to trace the Left's changing views on Musk to Musk's own specific actions?

There was always the vibe that electric vehicles were a major green solution for the future, and Musk had done a lot to popularize them. So as with the Prius before him, Musk and Tesla were embraced among environment-friendly folks of all stripes (but mostly liberal) 

What's interesting is that a segment of the right has been treating everything "green" the way they did everything woke, and there has a backlash against EVs, especially when it comes to incentives and mandates. I saw a steady diet of anti-EV/pro-Internal Combustion Engine memes and conspiracy theories among Trump supporters during the election.

Will they turn on Elon if he pushes pro-EV policies he'll profit from? Or will they decide EVs aren't so bad if their new pal Elon says so? I'd give slight odds to the latter.

Part of me thinks that Elon embraced Trump and the right just to sell more EVs, especially the Cybertruck.

I am going with your suggestion that people who write articles are experts in the areas those people write articles on.    Now if you will forgive me I have to run….I’m about to submit an article for publication on “how to satisfy a wife”.
