Memorial Stadium Renovation

Callahan says he no longer expects Nebraska to change the field to a grass surface. With concerts and other things they want to host, grass would be very difficult to maintain. Also says new artificial surfaces are much better and closer to grass. But he notes that our current surface would not be allowed under the new agreement between the NFL and the NFLPA.

Damn....

Not really a fan of Dannen at this point. His flip flopping on the Stadium upgrades is not a good sign. This all should have been kicked off already to get things in full gear by spring. Guy either can't make decisions, or can't rally the boosters to get it done.

You do realize they have delayed doing this for at least a year or two....correct?

Yep, and every time any news comes out it seems to be delayed or a regression. The excuse of not switching to grass for 2026 because of construction always seemed like a cop-out.

Hmmmm, sucks if true but not sure I believe it. A major part of redoing the practice fields was to have a test run wasn't it?

What does our surface have to do with the NFL?

What I'd like to know if it's Dannen himself that's pumping the brakes on the stadium expansion, or if his hands are being tied by the university's leadership.

Word is everything is full-go behind the scenes. They're just trying to figure out when the "optics" are good enough to make it public.
