I think most of us understand the recruiting aspect of the idea. And if it was Tom Osborne's idea, it would fly. You get Tom in a Black Shirt on game day, telling everyone it is a good idea, you have it made. Until then you are going to run into major road blocks.

Maybe that should be an indication of how old and tired this is. The students have tried for a B****** every year for at least 6 years now. It's unoriginal. I suspect the students are young enough that they think this is either a new idea or hasn't been done at NU. Maybe the uniforms being mostly black is what caused it this year - but not even a majority of the fanbase likes the uniform change from what I've seen. Let it go.

Which is exactly the reason they don't like to try and have Blackouts. They've tried this in the past and it doesn't work. Instead of a "sea of red" an all-black look, they get this mottled messy miasma.

Try at least 17. This inane idea was bandied about my frigging freshman year at Nebraska. And I'm willing to guarantee that incantation wasn't the first time someone dreamed it up.

The only times I have ever remembered student B****** attempts were in 2006 against Texas, the 2007 opener against Nevada (which worked, because the official student t-shirt was black), and this year.
I'm sure there have been others, but those were the only ones I recall that actually got some traction.
