Michigan Game Preview

Underwood was susceptible to miss a safety dropping off in zone coverage. Almost threw 2 picks...did throw one in the same situation. I assume CMUs safety read him and dropped underneath coverage to pick off those throws.

I'd be(and am) more concerned about Justice Haynes gashing the defense than Underwood scrambling. Michigan sees success running against and questionable tackling from the front 7 on film and then if it happens early on, they'll ride that horse all day
Yep, the former Bama back is homerun threat and can be a bell cow.

I feel confident that Butler will have our secondary ready, help with run support, and emphasize turnovers with every passing opportunity. Plus add some exotic looks to confuse the true freshmen QB pre-snap/post snap.

However, the best bet would be to slow down their running game as much as possible, with a spy on Underwood on passing downs, and get them to rely on passing plays.

I also think the redzone will be key in this game. How we keep Underwood from running around on pass plays. And again, stacking up the box against the run. And on the flip side, NU needs a bit of work on it's offensive red zone execution as well. UM is pretty stout on defense. Could be trading FGs in this game.

I went back and watched a little bit of the OU game and if Michigan plays cover 2 like they did against OU then we have a pretty good shot here. I think Dylan has a pretty good nack for finding the open guy in zone coverage. A bunch of OU's bigger plays came against straight cover 2

Oklahoma's success is encouraging, we have a similarly experienced secondary that should be able to confuse Underwood consistently. What we don't have that Oklahoma does is a DL that can beat up on a Michigan OL that is a step down from from their usual. If we can slow the standard running game I like our chances because he hasn't learned which throws he can't make. But they might not need to throw much.

So, is this just a one guy podcast show?
He is a college football "expert" that has a lot of following on line. His takes are generally regarded as knowledgeable and trusted. He is very high on Nebraska this year and was one of the pundits that predicted we would make the playoff this year. He tweets live during the game and then will do a show after. He typically has several people on his show. Quite a few people that follow him are upset he choose our game over several others.

@Mavric you do a great job with the recruiting subject. I’ve noticed you post a few high ranked ‘27 kids tweeting they are visiting for this game. In your opinion will it be one of the bigger/more important visitor lists for the year?

Yes, I think they will have this weekend as loaded up as they can get it. This one and USC - especially if it ends up at night - will be huge weekends.

Michigan is 14th in the B1G in passing offense yards but 4th in the conference in rushing yards.

This game could hinge on if our DBs can cover them one on one in man so we can commit more to stopping the run.

I didn't get to watch the HCU game. But I just saw that HCU had 13 first-down rushing attempts and averaged 6.8 ypc?!?!?!? Yikes.
