Michigan State Game Preview

11.5 is a lot, tempting to bet the under there. Think NU wins but it doesn't feel like a romp.

Think of our strengths and weaknesses right now.

Michigan State currently ranked #115 in pass defense. That's just barely above Akron. Their rushing offense is #78. That's a few spots below Akron.

We should absolutely cream them.

I agree on paper it looks like a good matchup. Still feels high, and it will until I see it happen.

Beating Boston College and being somewhat respectable against USC makes me wary of the Spartans. Still, I think the Huskers take out their Wolverine frustrations on MI St and win. I hope we have a RB#2 emerge that gains some confidence & consistency in this game.

If it's one thing I've learned over the years watching football. You can't judge how you are going to fare based on how other games for other teams go. IL this year is ranked. Got taken behind the wood shed by IU and then plays really close with USC. IU then barely beats IOWA.

The only “person” that seemingly can predict outcomes, is Vegas. The spread before kickoff is all you need to know.

They're not nearly as dynamic as Michigan running the ball. Chiles will probably be able to run it a bit, but i don't think it will be enough. Raiola will carve up their secondary. I think we can even get the ground game going a bit. Until proven otherwise I can only assume our pass defense is elite.

What’s the connection btwn Smith snd Riley?

Both were Oregon State coaches, and Smith was a player at Oregon State when Riley was coach. Riley was also an assistant on Smith's first staff at Oregon State, after we fired him.

Massey Composite Ratings, Huskers #28, Spartans #51 (65 inputs so far)

Odds: NU favored by 11.5 points.

Sagarin Predictor Column: NU advantage --- 12.31 (included home advantage)

BTW, after first week in October, I had looked up Jeff Sagarin report week-by-week. Interesting ......

(wiki source) Jeff Sagarin (born 1948) is an American sports statistician known for his development of a method for ranking and rating sports teams ....... earned a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1970 and an M.B.A. from Indiana University School of Business in 1983 ..... he does not divulge the exact methods behind his system ....... sports rating systems are generally of great interest to gamblers. Gamblers use Sagarin's ratings as a source of "Power Ratings," traditionally used as a way to determine the spread between two teams.
