All-American
I'm actually delightfully impressed at how little whining there's been from the Michigonians, but just to put the controversy to rest . . . well, we all know that the Xbox always knows best.
I pitted Florida and Michigan together on a neutral site (Arrowhead Stadium), with Florida being the home team and Michigan the visitor. Corso and Herbstreit both predicted Florida to take it.
Florida dominated the first half and after the first two quarters, the Gators led 17-0. Chris Leak was just unstoppable with only two incompletions at the half. Michigan had been unable to capitalize on two Florida turnovers.
Michigan finally figured out how to shut down Leak in the second half and battled back, this time taking advantage of Florida turnovers, opening up some holes for Mike Hart, and getting the tight ends involved in the passing game.
With twenty seconds left (and running) and the score a 17-17 tie, Florida had the ball on the Michigan 5-yard line. Thanks mostly in part to Urban Meyer deciding to go for a touchdown instead of a field goal. Leak and wide reciever Jamelle Cornelius have been buning Michigan corner Morgan Trent all day, and so Leak throws to Cornelius out in the flat.
Trent picked off the pass and returned it 105 yards for a touchdown, giving Michigan a 24-17 lead. Florida got the ball back and had time for one last heave to the end zone, which was actually complete, but the Florida reciever got pulled down before he could get to the end zone.
Michigan 24, Florida 17. I guess Michigan deserves it more.
Anyone else done this? Let's hear about it!
