Mike Brown: another TD and a smackdown

HuskersGJ

Special Teams Player
The Huskers in the NFL were all about defense and little offense just like the current Huskers.

Mike Brown had an interception return for a TD. he seems to have a knack for that in the NFL. He also knocked a TE out of the game with a concussion.

Not surprisingly, afterward Brown was concerned about the guy he had hit, though some of the Lions were upset. their coach, Steve Mariucci, defended Brown:

"I do understand those things are going to happen. I know Mike a little bit from union meetings and he seems to be a great guy. I just don't see him as a dirty player. It could have been somebody else out there and I would have called it a cheap shot,' but I don't see him as being that way. He's just a hard-nosed football player."

Unfortunately the NFL probably won't see it that way so he'll probably still get fined by the No Fun League.

Other NFL Husker stats worth a mention:

>Demorrio Williams- led the Falcons with 12 tackles (10 solo)

>Mike Rucker- 3 tackles and a forced fumble. the latter is one of Sportcenter's highlights from game, in case you missed it.

>Kyle Vanden Bosch- 5 tackles (4 solo), 3 SACKS (Titans had 6 total), and a fumble recovery.... i think he may have found new life in Tennessee.

>Ahman Green- 16 carries for 54 yards and 5 receptions for 45 yards in the Packers loss to Cleveland- ugh (this could be a looong season in Green Bay).

If Favre retires after this season the Packers are going to be awful for a few years to come IMO- hell, they ain't lookin good with #4! I like the Packers but I'm almost hoping Green doesn't re-sign with them just so he can get with a more promising club.

on a somewhat Husker-->NFL connection: Kyle Orton, the Husker fan/Berringer admirer, is looking pretty good for the Bears- maybe this year's Rothlesberger?? (sp?)

I would like to mention one other player...DeJuan Groce, for the rams today he played very good, making a one handed interception...hauled it in what could have been a td for the cards. He covered very well today. I was really proud of him, with him being a starter now, he has a load to carry.

apparently Groce was injured later too, but came back into the game..? Minter was also injured and may be out for "a week or two". <_<

BTW a mistake on the quoting, it was Pollard (the guy Mike Brown hit) who made the quote above but Mooch also defended the hit and Brown.

Per another article: "In real time, Brown looked to be leading with his helmet. But in slow motion, he seemed to turn his left shoulded and bring up his forearm."

I only saw the replays on ESPN but it definately looked like a forearm hit. maybe i'm biased but my first reaction was that his arms were up.

Hopefully the league will see it that way but I doubt it. The NFL tends to always go for the fine whenever an opportunity presents itself.
