Mike Leach on which stadiums are louder than Autzen

Liked it.  No politically correct bs.  Complete disrespect for Oregon.....Wish coaches would be more like that.  Brutally honest.  So what do think about playing so and so this week. We should be fine.  Their pass defense is a sieve, they have no DL and their LB's play like they are in concrete.  Their QB is horrific at best.  We are going to tee off on him so much he won't know if he's coming or going....We plan to use this as a way to pad some stats, get our second teamers some reps and pretty much rest up until next week....

I agree with Leach, I have been in Autzen 2x and didn't find it to be that loud or intimidating.  Being one of the loudest stadiums in the PAC 12 isn't really saying too much.
Well when Nebraska fans show up and take over about a quarter of the stadium that seats 55,000 people it doesn't get that loud for Oregon.

I’m guessing most everyone is aware. It’s still funny af. He named off about 4 or 5 in the Big 12 and almost every SEC venue. Of course he’s just dissing Oregon. But it’s probably pretty accurate too. I haven’t been to Autzen but the capacity and shape sure doesn’t seem like it would be a loud place.

Loudest place I’ve ever been besides old Mile High is UW in Seattle. My ears literally hurt after that game. Damn siren and projecting metal roofs.
The shape, along with being totally concrete, is exactly what makes it loud.

Meh, the shape isn’t terrible for noise but they still only get about 55k in there. And concrete doesn’t help that much if the slope of the bowl is too flat. I think their noise level is overrated just because they were a top team for awhile. I could be wrong as I’ve never been there. Anyway, I like the fact Leach is taking some jabs at them. Makes it more fun.

I've been there many times.  It's loud.  Our coaching staff said as much before UNL went there.

I like Leach taking shots too.  It cracks me up!

Leach brings a lot of baggage.  His shtick plays well at the more backwater programs. Wazzu is very happy to go 8-4 every year.  Nebraska fans would not be satisfied with that.  I have spoke with a few people that have come in contact with him in their work and pretty much the only thing any had nice to say about him was that he was a decent FB coach.  Otherwise most were not real impressed.

Idk, he's been improving that program every year since he got there. I think he'll do a lot better than 8-4 this year. In another thread where I pointed out MR's career stats at OSU, I was told you can't win in Corvallis. So I pointed out that Leach was winning at Wazzu and it's smaller and farther out in the sticks than Corvallis. Of course, all the "expert" legends jumped all over me for even suggesting that Leach was a good coach.

.....last I checked, Wazzu is undefeated, ranked close to the top 10 and just upset #4 USC. Leach can coach. He wouldn't be my first pick, but he would be a HUGE upgrade from MR.

But what about the "run the damn ball!" guy....

I was never serious about hiring Mike Leach.  There are a lot of reasons he wouldn't fit here, but Diaco/Leach press conferences would be pure gold!

You should also read his book.  It is a great read!

Your missing the point completely.  They are doing great this year, though they should have lost to Boise St.. They were down 31-10 with 9 minutes left in the game.  BSU gifted it to them.  He will not be consistently winning 10-11 games in Pullman.  Which is what Nebraska fans want.  Most years he is going to be around 8-4.  He is getting into the meat of his schedule now.  They have not played on the road yet this year.  Lets see how they finish.

I have never met the man, but have met several people that have worked/ been around him for extended periods of time.  Everyone of them said he was a lousy human being among other things.
