Minnesota: What Did We Learn?

I learned the following:
1) We are a program(fans) that think uniform choices have an outcome on a game...dumb.
2) We don't win enough to have uniform choices.
3) Bo Pelini was our HC in 2006...and then wasn't!!!
4) Brando and Gardner LOVE one upping each other on quips.
5) The Rhule and Penn st thing had a HUGE impact on this week's preparation.
6) Rhule needs to state definitely if he is here or not this coming week (the loss should secure that).
7) DR just needs to stop being a character QB and be a QB.
8) We (coaches) need to be ok with losing DR, if we potentially have a better component at QB.

So much this. Guys that want to go to the next level are looking at teams that put them in the next level. NU, as a team, is not doing this. Let alone showing improved OL play.

Prior to Indy he was 147-37 as a HC. A LONG track record of success. He was a risk, as success was at smaller schools, but winning is winning. Rhule was 47-43 prior to coming to NU. "Better schools", but just 6 years vs 13 years for Cig. Can never tell. Rhule was a "program builder", but showed no long term success anywhere and Gig just wins.
Yep. Why was it Indiana and not someone else who gave him his shot? I assume age had something to do with it. If he's smart he will stay at Indiana and become their version of Bill Snyder ... or any other coach you can think of who took a nobody and gave them self-respect.

We’d have to fire Rhule then
Agree tbh.

Here is a memo that Dannen can use....."Our kids showed great character and resiliency in a tough environment,' Eichorst said, 'so it did play a factor. But in the final analysis, I had to evaluate where Iowa was.'
NOTE-This was after Bo came back from 17 down to win in OT.

Bo was 3-1....Since then? 1-9 with the only win coming from interim coach Mickey Joseph....

Yeah we made a massive mistake firing Bo. Just is what it is now.
I don't think so. He had worn out his welcome in Lincoln and I believe he was tired of the fishbowl. He didn't set the world on fire at YSU and LSU had better athletes than Nebraska had and he was a disaster as DC in Baton Rouge the second go around. I think college football evolved and he couldn't or didn't want to. It's okay to appreciate his time at Nebraska and still recognize it had run its course. Futhermore, any Bo dead horse talk should be offseason discussion.

Exactly. The firing Bo wasn’t the mistake, it was who we hired after him.
