Minnesota's new "Athletes' Village" unveiled

The University of Minnesota’s Athletes Village is up and running, all 338,000 square feet now full of players, coaches, tutors, chefs and administrators dedicated to making school easier, and more fruitful, for the university’s approximately 750 student-athletes.

The $166 million project includes three new buildings: a football center including a locker room, weight room and staff offices; an indoor football practice facility; and the “Center for Excellence” that includes academic, nutrition and training centers as well as practice facilities for men’s and women’s basketball.

The university opened the new construction for a media tour on Saturday.

This article shows floor by floor(more blue prints than real images) what it looks like.

Going to be pretty cool for the Gophers. I played Flag football in their last indoor practice field and it wasnt a good set up. I believe the outdoor set up was solid though.

I am surprised it looks this nice, because of space.

Huskers still have better facilities.

I'll be curious to see what UNL has planned next for Nebraska athletics as far as facilities go. I imagine the donors are eager to kick start this thing anywhere they can with Frost back in town.
