It really does suck that the Royals have two of the best young players in the game and are probably not going to be able to keep them and/or put enough around them to be competitive.
They already extended Witt and made the playoffs with him last year. I would call that being competitive. This year, the Royals were very well into contention until their starting rotation exploded with injuries. Both of these guys are amazing. I never heard of that first basemen until this year, and was like "wow".
As for Witt Jr, - his daddy and family have sat directly in the pew in front of me and behind me at Sunday Mass, more than a dozen times in ten years. Including Junior when he was in High School. Really nice fam.
Awesome! Yeah I mentioned Pasquantino at 1st base, but also know Bobby Witt SR pretty well and payed attention to Witt JR ever since he played ball at the HS one mile away from my house. The 2nd basemen was Rusty Greer's son Mason. Fun times watching them grow. They already extended Witt and made the playoffs with him last year. I would call that being competitive. For the first time in a long time I’m actually confident the Royals can string together a handful of competitive years in a row. And if they do that, their best pitching projects are low A/High A and would be on the horizon to take over at that time
We need to find a right handed outfield bat though. And better middle relief for next year.
That’s pretty cool. Bobby seems like a great fit for the city. The city has embraced him and it seems like he tries to be a part of the community which is awesome.Awesome! Witt and Greer were both former TX Rangers.
