What I read he was in ankle-deep water about a foot from the waters edge. The rest of the family were only a few feet further up the shore.

and stinks everywhere (swamp odor). Plus temperature and humidity are extreme. No four seasons.

Actually, common sense tells me it was on Disney property and there were no signs warning of alligators. I would make the assumption that it was extremely safe to let my 2 year old wade in to 1 foot of water if I was very close to him (which it sounds like they were). Personally I think it is very bad form in this situation to try to blame the parents. I would request that you remove your comments on the chance that one of them might ever read what you posted. I would be embarrassed and ashamed if any comment of mine caused them any more pain than they have already endured. Not sure what there is to gain by questioning their actions now.

I stand by what I posted. However, I do feel bad for the family... nobody should have to go through something like this.

Get over yourself. It's highly improbable that they will ever read his post. Besides, tens of millions have already asked that same question.

Decked asked a legitimate question, which will need to be asked at some point to determine if a civil suit should be pursued.

So we have another one who wants to cast shade on parents for letting their 2 year old son wade in 1 foot of water, within a few feet of his parents, along the banks of the one of the nicest Disney resorts where there are no gator signs posted? I'm sure they feel as terrible about this as is humanly possible but hey, let's not worry that the father is a UNL graduate and that he might possibly (but probably never) will see these posts placing blame on the parents for something as unforeseeable as this. Nice. Suggestion- Don't ever let your kid ride his bike without a helmet or walk down a street, or do anything, ever, without being prepared to having to be questioned about your actions if some unexpected tragedy should ever happen. Whatever happened to simple human compassion?

The important thing is to ask the right questions, all of them, and to not have one care in the world about the additional it may (but likely won't) the grieving family. Nice.

Don't worry, I didn't take you off of ignore. But from time to time I may, against better judgment, choose to override the sensible suggestion of the ignore feature and view some of your posts anyway. Since it seems to be bothersome, I will be sure to do it more often. As always, if you want to discuss anything further with me, please join me in the shed.

 
A woman posted these photos she took of her son on Facebook. She says she took them the same night the attack happened in the same place.

There was another woman from Florida, a grandmother I think who has been taking her grandson to that same resort at the exact spot of the incident for YEARS and never knew that there were alligators in that lagoon.

There are a lot of cruel people in this world that lack sympathy. There were no alligator signs and yes there were no swimming signs but the 2yr old was walking in the water.

This family got their worst nightmare come true and will have to live with this tragedy for the rest of their lives. Not to mention the father will have those images of his son being ripped from his arms implanted into his head forever. Having a 4yr old myself, I just can't imagine what he's going through
