As we all read this, kickoff is almost here,
September 5th the day, 2009 the year.
Nebraska has sights on regaining power,
And making all foes whimper and cower.
Bo knows that all eyes are on his job,
Can he be the next great like Tom and Bob?
His first year as head coach was well received
And the team did better than many believed.
In 2009 the expectations are quite high,
To knock off the Huskers many will try.
A preseason ranking, we see all about,
"Show Me On The Field!" is all I can shout.
Record setting QB Joe Ganz has departed,
leaving a list of QB's who have never started.
Fans will support whoever that may be,
In game one we expect to see Zac Lee.
He's mobile and makes the throws is what we hear,
Once we see it ourselves we will be sure to cheer.
Behind him stands an impressive and imposing Green,
A true Freshman QB on the field few have seen.
The running game we know took quite a hit.
Q is off the team? Many exclaimed "OH $HIT!"
But Helu is the feature back as we all know.
He put on some muscle to go deliver a blow.
The receiving corps is too somewhat questioned,
But for greatness Paul, Holt, and the rest are destined.
We may be the deepest in the nation at TE some say,
A talented group with McNeill leading the way.
Defense is expected to be the strength of this team,
Could it be the blackshirts of old? We can only dream.
Forcing turnovers is what this defense did lack,
Crush the opponents...take the ball...the way of the black.
It's anchored by the big man...A Boy Named SUH,
He said no thanks to the NFL...man we love you!
With others like Allen, Turner and Crick by his side,
Husker Nation's chests and minds fill with pride.
The rest of the Defense will need to be strong,
Or they will face the wrath of the great Ndamukong!
Amakamura, Asante, Hagg and Blue patrol deep,
Lawrence, Dillard, and Fisher towards the QB they'll creep.
And let's not forget the most valuable man of all,
With one sweep of the leg the Buffaloes did fall.
Yes Alex Henry has the kick that many desire.
Snap the ball, set it down and the cannon will fire.
This year's team is full of questions and hope,
Schnellenberger said, National Champ quality (what a dope).
But aiming for a championship is what they'll bring forth,
If not of the Nation, well we're OK with the North.
So there it is my friends of this Huskerboard,
Some of you will read, many others have ignored.
I've said it before, and again let it be said.
Let's kick of 09 with a loud GO BIG RED!!!
