My Baylor/Skers after thoughts

Not sure about that  Only 350 yds of total offense, and if the stats I got were correct, they averaged less than 4 yds per carry.

What's wrong with that? We controlled the ball. Time of possesion was 37minutes to 23 minutes. You can't do that without your OL doing a good job.

:yeah I agree. We won the game. No we did not put up staggering numbers, but I think a win is more important. We kept their offense off the field and out D fresh.

I think BC and company called a good game, and yes the field goal was the right decision. Can you imagine what would be said about BC on these boards if he would have gone for the first and not have gotten it?

This is only the second game where NU won the TOP this year, so unfortunately, it doesnt seem to be a priority for this staff :blink:

RB's had 46 carries for 151 yds-3.28 YPC-not exactly dominating stats. Effective for this game, but needs to get better. :thumbs

Personally I don't feel we played down to the level of the competition on Sat. The first road game, an opponent with momentum and something to prove, and some very questionable officiating had the huskers on their heels a bit in the 1st half. However, they responded well and effectively took control of the game on the last 2 possessions of the 1st half and the 1st possession of the 2nd half. I think once we had the 13 pt. lead BC took a page out of TO's or FS's playbook and decided to play with the lead and finish things off with the two staples of old: running the ball and defense.

As I remember Baylor had a highly ranked rushing defense, top 10 nationally? For the O-line to dominate like they did in the 2nd half was impressive. I'm sure the game could have ended with a bigger spread, but why risk a win for the sake of piling up more yards and points?

Great win and great game called and played by the Huskers.

First of all, let me say that it is very clear that the BIG 12 is not the same conference as it was when it started. It appears that most of the teams have improved and become more competitive than they were several years ago. With the exception of the obvious like Texas, Oklahoma, A&M, and occasionally K-State, Nebraska was expected to beat any team in the conference, and usually won pretty easily. After seeing the final score of the Baylor game (understanding we are improving, and doing some good things.) this was not your same Baylor. Of course you could say this is not the same Nebraska. I feel the conference has caught up with Nebraska. We might be improving, but you can't say Nebraska is expected to win most conference games anymore...and even though we are improving, if the conference is catching up with us, then we must be going backwards.
