Taking away the fact that we weren't as bad as everyone made us out to be, right in line with the Big XII and ACC is good, should help conference perception at least a little bit. But another thing I notice is the fact that we played more teams from power conferences than any other conference, and almost as many as the Pac 12 and SEC combined. It's easier to look good when the N is smaller.

Not only does the SEC schedule poorly OOC but half of them are neutral site games where they can spend all summer preparing.
