My Mom

So....my Mom is here visiting. She fell last night and broke her hip! We are still waiting for surgery, but she told the surgeon he better have her awake and alert by 8 pm....she has a football game to watch! Gotta love Mom! I'd appreciate your prayers! Go Big Red!

 
That's a tough one, Jo Ann, we just went through the same thing with my wife's mother. She was back home after 4 days and is going as strong as ever. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. If she needs a caregiver when she gets home there are several in the Omaha area who are very good. (I think you said that Mom lived there.) The one thing she has to realize is that having someone come in to help is not stripping her of some of her independence, it is what will help her to maintain her independence.

The surgery went very well....thank you! The Dr "ordered" the recovery room to have a TV on and turned the game on for her! She made it back to her room for the 4th quarter...we celebrated the best we could! What a game! We decorated her room with Nebraska stuff and my boss(an Ohio St fan) had cupcakes made with an "N" on each one! We made the best of the situation! Sure glad the game turned out the way it did! Go Big Red!!

 
I am glad the surgery went good:) and I hope she has a speedy recovery:) I think that was neat that you all were there for her and all the things you did for her:) Glad she got a tv in her room too:)

 
Mom was moved to a rehab center yesterday afternoon! The Dr's say she is doing extremely well! Before she left the hospital, her surgeon stopped in. He saw the Nebraska decorations we had put in the room for the game Thursday night. Turns out his partner is a huge Nebraska fan. He is Bob Jones.....played football at Nebraska around 1963 under Bob Devaney! How cool is that? He's a surgeon now in Wheeling, WV.
