Bo isn't holding any cards. We have seen what we are going to get. If he was holding Aces he would play them. He is a line up and stop me type of coach. Get ready for a few tough losses this year unless to O-line starts to grow quickly. The D got thrashed on Saturday. If we have so much lateral speed then load the box and make them run laterally. Any sacks? I haven't been impressed and am fairly confident we have seen our new offense. It has happened for many years now? Wisconsin is going to be UGLY and it doesn't get much easier from there. :facepalm:

You might be right about the Wisconsin game being ugly, but where do you get that it doesn't get much easier from there? Ohio State nearly drizzled one down their leg to Toledo. Minnesota? Northwestern? Iowa lost to Iowa State. We may very well have a couple of tough losses this year. However, our schedule isn't something that really should scare anyone.
I am just saying that we don't look fundamentally strong and the hope that we are holding cards to our chest is a pipedream. Our O line and D Line got handled by a decent team and we will be facing equal or stiffer competition in the weeks ahead. Our offense hasn't improved much if at all and if we don't start using Burkhead more often it is not going to get better. #22 needs to get in a groove to be dangerous and he needs to carry the ball 20+ times to get there. He is a huge threat if used. #3 seems to think he can do it alone, he needs to spread the ball around and use his whole team. I want us to win as much as anyone but without some major improvements we might be a 7 or 8 win team this season.

Look at it as we arent calling all the plays we have in our playbook, so we can use them when we need them. The Dline isnt blitzing, running stunts or trying to be deceptive in any way. We are lining up and saying we are better then you, we dont have to trick you, or show you everything we got, we can line up and beat you with a limited number of plays because we have better athletes.
As far as offense goes, it seems like we are saving our plays and just being "vanilla" working on different things that we need to get down, doing enough to win the game. Why put all of our plays on film when you can just show what you need to get the job done? Especially with a new offense, this will be the only time to do this, no one knows what we have waiting to be unleashed. Bo doesnt care what the fans want, the fans want blowouts to feel all warm and fuzzy inside. But you see Bo is smart, and he has what you call a strategy. Its not a pipedream its a stragety. Well see alot of it this week, but the idea is to unleash it on conference opponents when it really matters. Time will tell if Bo's strategy will work.
Why would you run burkhead 30 times against a non con...dont you want to save him for the season? Why show off special plays out of the pistol and diamond? Just to impress the fans? Bo is smarter then that. If we were playing Oklahoma we would be playing alot differently. Yes, this happens every year, last year after the SDSU and KU games, out came the same crap, we suck we suck the world is coming to an end, and yet we went to the Big 12 Championship and played with the number 1 team in the land, and should have beat them. The year before we had Texas dead to rights, a team that went on to play for the NC. And in the beginning of the year, the same crap was said.....defense gives up too many yards we arent as good as last year...same crap different year.

I hope you are right. That's why they play the games, but are we holding back on how to block or tackle? I don't think that missed blocks and poor defensive play is strategy. I have had rose colored glasses for years and I traded them in for some clear ones this year. The competition in the B1G is a lot tougher than the Big 12. Burkhead needs to carry the ball more or #3 is going to get hurt and then we can kiss this season goodbye. QB #15 isn't ready, give the ball to 22 and let him take on the load. I am not suggesting wear him out just use him more. I don't think we suck or are a bad ball team, but some basics better start getting better or we are in for a tough season.

Call me crazy, but I don't think the competition in the Big 10 even holds a candle to the competition this year in the Big 12.

I'll be surprised if Iowa State finishes any better than the bottom 1/3 of the Big 12. It will be interesting to see where Iowa finishes in the Big 10.

I believe we are running a nickel package and dime package, but we don't have a guy that 'fits' as a peso so we haven't run that type of personnel package. The way I understand it is the peso is a guy that can play LB or DB, while a nickel is an extra DB.
