National Notes: If we had to guess

If we had to guess right now...
It’s April 12 and signing day for the 2012 cycle is a ways down the road. Still, it’s never too early to throw out predictions on where the top five uncommitted recruits will land. Some of these are likely going to be dead wrong, but if we can bat around .500 (or heck, maybe better) on them, that’s probably a success this early.

...

“Torshiro is committed to LSU, but he may take some visits,” Holmes said Sunday. “Nebraska, Oklahoma and Alabama are schools he may take a look at.”

Davis said he talks with Nebraska and LSU the most at this point.

...

-Kris Knowlton of HuskersIllustrated reports that Arizona athlete D.J. Foster has Nebraska in his top five.

It's a long ways to signing day, anything can happen between now and then. But, in saying that, I do believe USC and Oregon will be our biggest competitors for Andrus.

Andrus has visited USC twice already, with that known I would say:

50%-Nebraska (brother and Ron Brown factor, without visiting.)

45%-USC (Knows the campus and facilities already)

5%-Oregon (Has not visited, or any conenctions. But does have interest in them.)

Just my opinion.

I don't feel too good about Andrus, I do however feel that we'll bring in at least 3 very good O-linemen
I feel the same, USC is making a strong push for him. I have a better feeling about Paul Thurston, Ronnie Stanley, Mike Shoff, and some other guys.

As of right now I'd have NU third for Andrus, USC and Oregon would be leading. And I would not be shocked one bit if Andrus ended up in the SEC. This is not the Green brothers that were very close with each other, not saying Andrus and Todd aren't close, but playing together with Todd just isn't as big as it was for Andrew and Aaron. This all may change once Andrus visits but right now 25% chance Andrus comes here.

As for the numbers of commits and recruiting "buzz", of course it is gonna be slower. NU can be very selective about who they want with the limited number of spaces. Secondly, NU is not riding a wave of momentum from last season. Different case last year, all bowl season, even though it was a loss, commentators/TV heads were talking about the way the defense looked in the Conference title game. Then ya blow the doors off Zona and the sky's the limit. Exposure + momentum=major interest among recruits.

Look at this last year, limp to the finish, not show up for a bowl game and suddenly not so much buzz around the nation. And NU is not at the front your mind as a recruit.

Winning cures all, and all of this probably changes with strong performances this fall. Run the Non-con schedule, win in Madison, and then knock off OSU, and you will see visits and interest blowing through the roof. Time will tell, and NU should be able to take care of itself.

Remember many of these kids are doing this on their own dime. And personally, there are a ton of things I would even probably spend my own $$$ on then heading to Nebraska in April to watch a practice.

One more thing to note on the effect Todd has on Andrus' decision:

Todd has not left home yet. Right now it may not seem to Andrus that not playing with Todd isn't a big deal. Once Todd leaves, Andrus will know what it's like without him around for a season. He may end up deciding that he's OK with that, or he may end up deciding that he wants to be back around big bro again. Also, once Todd is gone and they are talking, him relaying back his honest experience could have a positive/negative effect as well.

I will echo what the guy in the post before mine said.

Now, as of this moment it might not seem like a big deal to not have your brother around but once he leaves thats changes. Now, if Peat LOVES it here at NU and thats what he is telling he brother all the time, its pretty much a lock. Dont think for a second that it wont cross their minds to be the brothers that come to NU, start a bunch of games together and become "legends". Now, if he has a bad time his freshmen year, all bets are off.

I know that lots of times brothers or cousins pretend like they tell the younger one "You have to do whats right for you" but that is BS, they tell them "Dude, you have to come here, its crazy!" or "Dont come here, I am thinking about leaving"

With that said, have you seen the new Arizona State Unis? I woudl go play for them right now, they are SWEET!
