NBA 2025-26

Bronny "earned" the start last night. Was averaging 2.0 ppg on 26.9% shooting.

He played all of 10 minutes. And those stats got worse.

What a joke.

Sorry, shouldn't have included everyone.

It's not five guys standing still. But it's a lot of 2-3 guys standing still.
There are definitely iso possessions and teams that do it a lot (minnesota, clippers) which is not a fun watch.

90s NBA had a ton of standing around and packed paint. We just dont seem to remember it that way. All that being said, it’s an opinion thing in terms of appeal. I cant tell someone what they enjoy. One thing I really appreciate about the modern NBA is more competitive balance. 7 different champions in the past 7 years.

It's a fast moving game and a long season, and you do see teams (and players) get lazy for stretches, running isolations for their ball-handling scorer while others stand around. But you can't do that forever, and the teams that succeed play team ball, motion offenses, team defense, and have deep benches. Memories of more rugged players playing a more pure brand of basketball that never dreamed of bending the rules, flopping, and slacking off on defense are pretty faulty. You might find a crabby Pistons, Knicks or Bulls old-timer badmouthing the new NBA, but most veterans have no problem giving the new generation its due. What's not to like about OKC or the Nuggets? Even when they beat my team I recognize good basketball.

Wow,.. to say I haven't paid attention to the NBA is honesty beyond approach.

Heard today that Dallas Mavericks GM Nico Harrison was fired. Which is great news. However it happened last week. And I never knew about it. LOL.

Just 12 games into the season (Dallas was 3-9 and currently 4-11).

Read that Dirk Nowitzki finally opened up about it and said "It probably should have happened earlier" and specifically said "last summer".

Hopefully Jason Kidd should finally be next to get fired IMHO.

Because he doesn't make adjustments and doesn't know how to coach X's and O's.

However, Kidd is a nice face for a franchise, and he smiles, is soft spoken, wears reading glasses and a hat backwards. All of the things you want in a head coach to win Championships.

Plus, he is super nice to his players, totally loyal to them, and is good to his assistant coaches that help him, and nice to the front office & owners.

Meanwhile Nico Harrison traded for Anthony Davis who has played 4 games this year out of 15 and is expected to miss 10 more days.

Anthony Davis played just 9 games with Dallas last year while missing 24 games (out of 33 games).

In total, the Superstar has played only 13 games since the trade, while missing 35 games for 3 different injuries with Dallas.

I also remember some ESPN media personalities praising Nico for getting Anthony Davis, saying he was better than Luka, and also giving Nico credit for getting the top pick in the draft. Like he earned it lol. That was Perkins and Stephen A. Smith.

I am sorry, but the draft was rigged. Nico is fired for being a dumb-dumb, and potentially setting the franchise back several years to come. And that's all you need to know.

This is what @admo is taking about. You can still like the NBA, @Guy Chamberlin, but the game, and the application of the rules, is simply not the same as it was in the 70s/80s/90s. It might be entertaining, but this junk and the flopping etc turned me off of it also.

LMBO !!!

These players are so good, you don't question it. David Stern & Adam Silver have made sure of it. It's not basketball, it's Entertainment and Money$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ for everyone.

Can you name any major sport that isn't entertainment and money?

That's pretty much the whole idea.

And if persistent non-calls are the issue, that takes football off the table.

I've been attempting to watch some games here and there - only problem is that I've never had a team that rooted for in the NBA. I always just liked watching certain players.

Where should I be hitching my bandwagon this season?

Oklahoma City Thunder is seriously threatening the all time record of 73 wins in a season. They were built with draft picks and role players more than superstars, and every guy plays lock down defense.

As much as I hate the Lakers, they're still going to be entertaining, and you might as well enjoy Jokic and Curry while they're still playing Hall of Fame worthy ball. Victor Wembanyama with the Spurs has had some of the craziest highlight reel games I've ever seen. There's also a bunch of great players I'm still learning about and can't remember their names.

I am already biased against OKC due to the insane foul-baiting/flopping from Sharpei or whatever his name is. (Blame social media for corrupting my brain)

Lakers, Idk. My buddy is a Mavs fan and he is still real salty about the Luka thing. Idk if I could do that to him.

No Denver teams. Ever. Ever ever.

Draymond soured me on Golden State and never really liked Curry.

I never liked the Spurs cuz I loathed Tim Duncan lol.

Do I just go with my (new) home state team in Detroit?

The other issue I'm having - How the **** do you watch any of the games? You gotta have some local channel to watch home games and then other team's local channels to watch away games or some nonsense. WTH

Hey, I thought you were asking with an open mind. Sounds like you've got a lot of grudge on your plate already.

There are some big name floppers out there and it's fun to rag on them (hey LeBron!) but there aren't many fans or pros talking crap about Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Great player and a good guy, even when he's beating us. Lotta folks hate Draymond Green and us Warriors fans totally get that, but I haven't run into many people who loathe Tim Duncan or dislike Steph Curry. Most folks who like basketball enjoy watching Jokic and the Nuggets whether they like Denver or not.

You're in a good place to go all-in with your new local team. Pistons have a lot of young talent and are kinda killing it right now.

To get local sports you have to check with your cable provider and make sure you have the tier of service with the local sports channels. My sports package adds more than I need or want, but it's only $12 a month. Maybe there's a local over-the-air broadcaster who can get you some of the games for free. If you work strictly with streaming services they're not going to give it to you. I think the NBA has something like the NFL -- a subscription that lets you watch every game you want. But you don't sound like you enjoy the game that much. YouTube TV (not YouTube the platform) is probably the best way to get local sports without paying for crap you don't want, but I really didn't like the interface with my remote control.

I'm getting the feeling there aren't many NBA fans on this site.

I'll be that guy. I like SGA as a player, and he seems like a good dude too. But I can't stand watching him play basketball. By my unscientific count, he ends up on the floor on approximately 98% of the shots he takes. The dude is a foul bating machine, and it drives me crazy. He doesn't have to resort to that, yet there he is, a free throw merchant almost every game. I get it, it's the way the game is officiated today, it just bugs me.

When Jamal had his 52 point game a bit ago, my son texted that he did that with 4 free throws. My response: "So, he's the anti-SGA?"

Now, I fully understand that I'm a bitter Nuggets fan because OKC is freaking amazing, but just my two cents. (And, for what it's worth, I really wish Jokic would stop with his palms up whining crap too, so there's that.)

I forgot the Pistons were on last night but watched some extended highlights; Cade Cunningham is pretty good at basketball

12 dollars a month!? In this economy!?

Also saw my guy Cooper Flagg had 42 last night
