The rockets are overpaying a lot for cp3 when he becomes a free agent in a few days. I guess CP3 really wanted the max contract from the sign and trade.
While this may be true, CP3 was most likely headed to San Antonio to get under Pops wing and have great shooters around him. With this, the Spurs could have rested TP( not coming back until January) and played Chris and when Chris needed a night off, they could pay Tony. Basically, Chris would trust Pop with his minutes. The Rockets knew they would not get Chris, so they traded to get him and the Clippers also get something in return for CP3. I think Chris took the remaining one year and opted into it to make the trade happen which means he likes the idea of playing with James Harden. Not sure if the Rockets had the cap space to sign him either, that is why they went the sign and trade route also. The rockets are overpaying a lot for cp3 when he becomes a free agent in a few days. I haven't seen the details of the trade, but surely it is a protected 1st round pick.Looks like the T-Wolves finally got rid of Rubio. Traded him to Utah for a 1st round pick, which if free agency plays out the way it could (Hayward to Boston) would be a pretty decent pick you'd think.
