Auburn 7

Auburn, Alabama (October 2,1982) -Nebraska headed to Auburn needing to overcome an emotional loss the week before. Auburn was unbeaten and ranked 20th in the country and looking for a Cornhusker letdown.

The Huskers struggled in the first half but still managed two first half TDs, a 15 yard Doug Wilkening jaunt and a 58 yard Turner Gill to Todd Brown pass. Auburn notched one first quarter score on a Bo Jackson 6 yard run.

The Husker Blackshirts took control in the second half keeping the Tigers from scoring while the NU offense added 27 more points and a 41-7 victory.

Turner Gill earned Big Eight Offensive Player of the Week honors for his 10-19-162 yard passing performance and 50 yards rushing.

hmmmm, sounds like the Huskers and Auburn then were in a similar position we are now.

:bonez

by the way, what does War Eagle mean?

LOL!!! I tell ya us Auburn folks we don't have much love loss for the Bammers. LOL I am from a huge family divided by Auburn and Alabama fans. And it's fun to hear my Bama side of the family whine over this ordeal.

Each year a member of my family host our annual Auburn vs Bama game. If it's a Bama home game, then a Bama member of the family host it and paints their yard like a football field with logos ect. And same for an Auburn home game. We wear the appropiate replica uniforms as well. It's the one time a year our whole family gets together as many of us have to travel across the country to attend. This is how serious we take the rivalry. I included a pic of our game a couple of weeks ago for you to enjoy. I'm the QB on the Auburn team.

In my opinion, every coach that goes to Alabama has to live under the shadow of Bear Bryant. They haven't accepted he will not come back from the grave to coach again.

WARRRRR EAGLE!!!!!
WarTeddy,

I agree, its tough to live in the shadow of the Bear. Bama and the fan base want to go back to the glory days at any cost. However shortcuts usually lead to the long road. I wanted to say, its refeshing to see more than just one or two fans with a love of the game that can post constructive points and not talk trash. I have not been to an Auburn game but the posts I have seen from your fans lead me to believe you guys have a great fan base. I hope to attend a game there one day.

I appreciate the kind comments ADC. I can reassure you if you get the opportunity to watch a game at Auburn, you'll be welcomed with open arms by the Auburn faithful. Most fans will go out of their way to ensure you are fed well and leave with a great memory of your visit there. The hospitality is second to none. Wear your Nebraska attire proudly at Jordan Hare even if Nebraska is not playing us. We have the upmost respect for your program and fans. Just don't wear LSU or Bama attire. LOL!!!!! J/k. My advice would be to ensure you contact some Auburn folks on the forums prior to your visit to Auburn so you'll get the full experience of our traditions in person when you arrive. You won't regret it I promise you. Again thanks for the compliments and I look forward to seeing you at the Cotton Bowl. Best of luck. :)

WARRRRRRR EAGLE!!!!!

reading these guys post on here has made me glad we get to play Auburn. sounds like they have a great fan base and enjoy their football as much as we do.

Consider that probably NONE of the players that will meet up this January 1 were even BORN before Oct 2, 1982, and that will tell you how intense this game is going to be. I think they will be fired up on both sides trying to bring home the "W."
