I got a good chuckle out of this also, though it seems a lot of hard rock bands these days are into that woe is me approach. 10 Years, Hurt, Shinedown, etc.

 
I'm actually surprised that KU basketball and Miami football weren't top 10. Actually, I'd put Miami football higher than NU football on the list considering who they fired. Solich had a great record when fired, but Coker had one of the best stretches in college football history and had a NC under his belt.

Agreed. And I don't understand why Arkansas is in the "Honorable Mention" list - the only reason I can think of is that, similar to Nebraska, it's the only game in town in its state. But when a guy like Nutt can last over a decade despite only having great seasons every four or five years, it can hardly be considered a "tough" coaching gig.

 
It probally should be titled the highest pressure coaching jobs - All those schools have tremendous fan support and finacial resources - Like I tell people it's easy to run a company with money - try doing it without money and support and we'll see how you do.

I think the NU job is easier than it was. Following legends is tough. After a few mediocre goes, the fans get a little more reasonable. UNC after Dean was like that too, Roy was much better having some mediocre coaching results between him and Dean Smith.

Reasonable opinion jayhawk, I must say I agree for the most part.

The only thing is that I think after the 2007 season, it became a very high pressure job. Nebraska fans don't like to have poor/losing seasons (as you can probably tell) so pressure on Pelini to get his team to perform was pretty high. We didn't expect a season like 2008 (although it wasn't too farfetched to predict), so he still has to prove consistency while getting better.

But overall, I think following legends is tougher as you said. After a few poor seasons, people will allow a new coach some slack. But if you are following a legend, people expect you to keep it all going full speed.

 
Wow, anybody else think we shouldn't have paid Pelini now? Recession or not, top 10 pressure job in all of college sports and he is ranked 23rd out of all 118 or so after 1 season!

Should speak for itself.
