Nebraska announces two additions to the 2016 staff

Seeing some stuff on Twitter about people not liking the Devaney hire. Mostly say he ran the Rams into the ground. I'm not really sure what he's going to do on a day to day basis so I'll guess I'll wait and see.

 
Well in addition to all he may know about identifying and attracting talented players, he looks like a really nice, intelligent person and has to know many many people all over the football world. The contacts and connections to coaches, former players (who have young ones coming of college age btw) would have to be almost limitless.

Both these hires have the potential to be Earth shaking and incredibly beneficial. Big Red is definately heading upward fast! Land the huge recruiting class for '17 and win about 11 games this fall and we are on our way back to where we belong! I can 'feel it" happening!

Yea I'm not really sure what his day to day duties would be either but I'm struggling to find more cons than pros in this hire. I don't see how someone with all that experience can be viewed as a negative, especially when it comes to scouting recruits.

The Devaney hire is certainly the most intriguing to me - he has a wealth of experience, and while he had success in his NFL career, he has also had some interesting hiccups. He helped draft Sam Bradford, hired Steve Spagnuolo to coach the Rams and, in his final two seasons as the Rams GM, they ended up going 3-29 in and he was ousted.

He was also a part of the management crew that drafted Ryan Leaf to the Chargers, and pretty much all those guys were sent packing.

That's a very 35,000 foot view of both situations - I only offer them as points of discussion. Hopefully, he has more success here.

Honestly Bradford was a stud at OU and most thought he would be a good qb

Fair. I'm not trying to say he's a bad hire. It's just important for people to see the whole picture. A lot of people blame him for the the Rams tanking in 2010-2011, and he had other draftees outside of Bradford that were supposed to be big gets and never really met potential.
