Nebraska Coach Search - 2025 version

Ok I’ll bite since it’s just a fun rumor forum

Guys I’d be fine with:
Campbell (the right move up for him)
Franklin (if he does not end up at FL)
Kiffen
Gruden
Z. Taylor

Second tier guys:
Fitzgerald
Leipold
T. Lupoi Oregon DC
Holgerson for offensive continuity
T. Monken
No Brian Hartline??? I would have thought he at least would be in on your list of second tier coaches.

Sure Fitzgerald was let go because of the hazing stuff, but look at his record the last 4 years at NW. The powers that be wanted him gone and firing for hazing was the best way to do it.

2019 3-9, 1-8
2020 7-2, 6-1 <Covid year, I don't think you include that good or bad for anyone>
2021 3-9, 1-8
2022 1-11, 1-8

What's the venn diagram overlap of people who get frustrated that Indiana is doing so well and we aren't, who also have no imagination or risk-tolerance in who they want as a head coach, coming up with Lane Kiffen and the like as their only options?

Indiana doing well gives me hope (not frustration) that NU doesn't necessarily need to hire a "hot" name or P4 retread to improve.

However, I'd be happy if NU is in on the likes of a Campbell or Drinkwitz.

If kiffin was going to accomplish something, he would have done it by now.

I’m not convinced on Hartline. Easy to win with elite talent. I’d put him in the third tier.
I understand but he has a wealth of experience learning under Ryan Day and while I understand he has never been a head coach most of the coordinators of highly successful programs become good head coaches.
