Nebraska led the Big Ten in fan ejections in 2016

Minnesota: 306,000 people with access to alcohol inside the stadium. 11 ejections. 0 arrests. Over $1M in revenue.

Agreed! Seems like a no brainer. With very little effort at all we could generate another million or so in revenue. I mean, it's not like people don't already drink alcohol on gameday anyway.

Serving alcohol in the stadium would actually lower the binge drinking before the game and drunks coming into the game. People won't feel the need to slam drinks before the game if they know they would be able to get 1 or 6 more inside the stadium.

This pisss me off...NU needs to get on this.
He'll even keep it local. Let local vendors buy/rent a space...say 50k ( just a made up number, it could be 10k) to rent for the season...take up to 20 vendors (if possible)...NU keeps that money, vendors charge what they want for their beers...NU gets 10% of the sales from each vendor or NU charges 1 dollar for a 21 year older wrist band.

We should know by now prohibition usually produces the opposite of the desired effects

Minnesota has found this to be the case. I go to several games and have never seen any bad behavior.

If I had the authority I would name you Athletic Director of DONU solely on the basis of that post. And then I would drink to your successful tenure as AD at the first NU home game!

When TO is no longer pulling strings with the Regents, you will probably see something change.

I went to the NU game in Minnesota a few years ago. I wasn't in any condition to do any more drinking for the 11 AM kickoff (I had 1 beer before the game and could barely choke it down) but I didn't see any negative behavior from fans who were drinking during the game.

Teach has been waiting for TO to croak for years so NU would sell beer at football and basketball games.

I was at the night game for Minnesota vs Wisconsin couple years ago. That was a party. Not one problem where I was sitting.

Sign me up!!!

Wait a doggone minute. Are you guys telling me it is no longer common for virtually every fan to smuggle booze into memorial stadium?

Of course this goes back to my student days and may just be a phenomenon found in the student sections but there were more empty bottles laying in the rows at the end of a game than any self respecting bar could possibly generate in a month of sales. You literally could not find a place to place to step without having to nudge an empty pint of Jack or something to the side first. And that doesn't begin to account for most everyone getting sheet faced drunk before even going to the stadium.

hmmmm......on 2nd thought maybe there is something to this highest incident rate.

Nothing like sneaking in a bottle of hot 100 cinnamon schnapps on 105° day and letting it sit in your pocket all day.

That's for the cold weather games. Two of my favorites back in the day were Yukon Jack or Southern Comfort. They mixed well with either Coke or 7 Up which they sold in the stadium. We'd put them in our socks, go in with a crowd so you didn't look too funny shuffle stepping through the gate. Or Bota bags were real popular then too. I'm pretty sure I've never been to a Husker game completely sober.
