Nebraska vs. OU similar to Michigan vs. Penn State

Of course everyone knows that anything can happen in a rivalry game but do you think Oklahoma will pull it off against favored Nebraska the way Michigan pulled it off against higher-ranked Penn State? I don't think they will but I think things will come together for OU the way they did for Michigan for that one game.

 
This is a good point for everyone who is counting Oklahoma out. Both Oklahoma and Michigan are very talented and underacheiving.

Agreed. OU still has talent, but I think they are missing it at a key position.

 
Peterson is going to be out for that game and possibly the season is what ive herad, but even if he was in the game it wouldnt make that much of a difference, last year when he was 100 percent, he only got like 60 something yards, and I think it was even less than that, Rhett Bomar gets poor protection while in the pocket, and hes taken a pretty good beating the entire season, hes not a very accurate passer, his WR's are young just like he is, sometimes they run the wrong routes, they have bad hands, but they are quick so ill give them that. OU's defence has stepped up a little but in the past few weeks, but I dont think their on the level of our team, and I dont think they can stop our passing attack, we just have to protect the ball, give Taylor time in the pocket, and we need another good game from our special teams, if we do all that im sure we ill get another big win.

Gee, I wonder what position that is. I agree, but they still play good defense giving up around 300 ypg despite getting torched by Texas. Of course, TT and Baylor's defense have almost identical numbers, but I tend to think they are playing at their highest level, while we know Oklahoma is in disarray. My point is that they still have athletes on defense and if they are able to put it together in the next couple of weeks, it could spell trouble for Callahan and Taylor.

BTW, is anyone else as sad as I am that this game doesn't mean nearly as much any more? I really wish there was a way we could play every year. Maybe Callahan's 'F-ing hillbillies' comment will have given some live to this once-great rivalry. Either that or the fact that we got completely dismantled last year.

 
Michigan was favored and playing at home. Nebraska will be favored and the home team. There is a difference between the two games. I do see what you are saying though.

 
If the game were in Norman, I might buy into the OU team knocking us off. However, they're bringing a freshman QB into Memorial Stadium. I just don't think Stoops can pull this one off unless they have about a 180 degree turn around from where they are now. The biggest thing OU lacks right now is confidence. It takes a long time to get it back once it's lost!

Blame the Big 12 schedule-makers. Even when we expanded and moved into divisions, they should have kept this game as a yearly showdown. It's a shame.

I still remember getting geeked up on Saturday mornings when Barry Switzer and his gang of thugs would come into Lincoln to face TO and the boys...

Back in the beginning of the Big XII didn't we try to get OU as a 'non-conference' game and they refused? Something tells me we offered and they said no b/c we were so far up and they were so far down. Anyone else remember this?

 
OU is coming here to play. Michigan was playing at home and only won by 2 points in a 4th quarter that had to many up and down situations. Michigan wouldn't have won that game on the road. I watched the game and Michigan caught a break on that stupid face mask penalty. Otherwise that touchdown drive to take the lead would have never happened.

 
I really don't see any real similarities between the games save that Mich and OU were both ranked pretty high in pre-season and both ended up letting everyone down. Whatever though, I don't like thinking this far ahead, that's how you get burned.

 
Youre damn right michigan doent win that game on the road.

Llllloyd carr does get to confer with the refs and add 2 seconds to the clock...arbitrarily and agianst the rules in state college.
