Nebrasketball @ Purdue

I quit watching after the 1st half.  Purdue was hot & we had no answer.  We need a pg. In the worse way.  We have no offense when Worster on the floor & he is slow on def.  We need to put Brice at point & play Conner.

i watched all of about 30 seconds of the game.  Missed the very beginning, but the tiny bit I did watch was:

Gary gets an offensive rebound, tries to dribble in traffic & gets the ball stolen.  Purdue comes down on a semi-fast break & Williams guarded no one leaving Purdue a wide open 3 (which they obviously make).  Nebraska comes down on their next possession, Williams drives & gets a wide open layup which he misses and then knocks the ball out of bounds going for the rebound.  TV Timeout & I change the channel with the Huskers down 15-7.

That was all I needed to see to know that Purdue was there to win & Nebraska was just there.

At this point, I don't know why we don't just start Ullis and see where it leads us.  See if he can get in a rhythm and contribute.

Because he is significantly exaggerating the detriment Worster is.

As @ECisGod pointed out, when we play poorly, there are a lot of things that go poorly that have nothing to do with him.  There was a video posted of all the threes that Iowa made.  Only one of them involved Worster being the guy late to rotate, and that was only because he was guarding one guy on the wing, a pass was made towards the top of the the key and Worster was the guy who had to try to run and guard that guy too.

We kind of play a high-risk, high-reward defense.  When teams aren't great outside shooters or have an off night, it looks fantastic.  When they are hitting, we are in trouble because they get open looks.

I get that.  I'm not nearly as down on Worster as some.  He plays OK.  I'm just not sure he's a special player that can make a big difference in the game.  So, I can't point to a bunch of plays where he lost the game for us.  But, I also can't really say there's times in games where defenses were all out of sorts because of him.

Conner needs to be able to get open shots more.  I'm guessing part of that is that he needs to move better without the ball.  But, some of it could be that we don't have a real threat at PG that demands more attention on defense.

I don't know that having a more traditional PG really gains us much.  Not in the "offense" that we run.

Worster is actually pretty good at getting to the basket off the dribble.  In that way, he demands attention, because if you don't get him stopped right away he's going to drive.

I just don't think we have a ton of movement in general in our offense.  There is kind of always 2-3 guys just standing around.  Which I suppose is basically how most offense works now-a-days.  But I don't know that it really the fault of or would be helped by having a different type of point guard.

Positive and negatives I see out of Wooster the rooster.

He finishes good around the rim

He does good posting up guards in the paint

He has no mid range or long game

He is not a very good ball handler

He is just ok at the line

He is a low tier athlete

As I just typed this he is a big man in a small man’s body. He is a center playing PG
