Nebrasketball vs Maryland - Eastern Shore

Hoiberg used some unusual lineups for the last 10-ish minutes & was clearly not happy with the results.

UMES is a REALLY bad team. We shot horribly, played the above mentioned weird lineups that didn't work and still won by 19 and had a lead of 31 at one point.

We just keep bombing threes whether they're falling or not. Some nights they're going to go down and we'll probably steal a couple of wins. Some nights they won't and we'll probably lose to someone we shouldn't.

That's the way of modern basketball. All 3's and layups/dunks. Fortunately, the Huskers play defense.

Creighton had the same issue last night against Gonzaga and got smoked because they don't play tough defense (and Gonzaga is much better than UMES).

Yes, I understand that. I'm not even against it. But we don't seem to adjust very well when we're not hitting.

Although, as I was curious after the previous reply, we are currently #26 in the country in threes attempted per game. So we are, in fact, firing more than most.

And we're #167 in make percentage. Which doesn't seem like a great combination.

Before last night we were hitting over 40% as a team. I understand that two games is a small sample size, but I suspect that we will have more games like the first two than last night. They have too many good shooters to shoot under 20% on a regular basis.

I agree that they need to adjust more when they are having an off night. I'm sure they will go over tape before the game on Saturday and point that out. The problem was that a lot of the missed 3's were wide open. Sometimes the hoop is as big as the ocean, sometimes it's a thimble.

Two games is a small sample size, but it's not like we hit were hitting 40% in both those two games. We've had one below-average game (31%), one really good game (50%) and now one poor game (18%). One good game out of three isn't a great trend, especially when those are the three weakest opponents of the year.
