Due to Conner. Starting 5 were throwing up bricks in the 1st 5 min. They combined for 6 assists too. But those also came from the one that didn't start. :hmmph

I like him, he seems like a great guy and he did a really good job at ISU, their new coach is killing it too.in the bleak history of Nebraska basketball....Hoiberg has the 2nd worst winning % of any coach we have ever had.

This has probably been covered somewhere else and I just didn't take the time to find it. What's the reasoning behind having 15 teams in the conference tournament instead of 16? I think it would make perfect sense to have 4 first round games instead of 3 and you could make it the same for everyone. I'm sure the conference has a reason for it, I just didn't know what it was.
This is a fair point. Somewhat depends on how much you want to assume that giant shifts in the landscape of college basketball during his tenure here play a meaningful impact. Obviously, took over during covid shut downs. If we think the 2020 covid were any sort of a hindrance to a quick turnaround, then you have to say he inherited the 7-10 type team, took that to 10-22 the following year, moved to 16-16, then 23-10, and now 12-7 with what looks realistically like may shake out to 16-15 ish if we are lucky. So, has trended up with a hiccup this year? With Mast hurt. And doing that with the crazy NIL landscape? Are we competitive there in basketball? I just don't know, but what I am saying is that if you can get a Bill Self and are willing to throw big NIL around, go that direction. But if you are going to try to hire another unproven coach and handicap them in the NIL game, I'd give Fred another year and hope this year was minor setback. But stick with him why?
What has he shown, while at NU, that sticking with him is the best idea? Especially if he doesn't even make the BTT tourney.
They want to have double byes for the top four teams, so it doesn't work as easy with 16 teams. It will basically mirror the ACC tournament.Seems odd to me as well. I assume they were just giving the regular season "champion" some recognition and a break from playing a fourth game.
If you look at the bracket on the Big 10 website, the top 4 teams would get double byes if you would add one more game to the bracket. As of right now the #1 seed is just waiting on the winner of the #8 and #9 seed. All the other top 4 teams are waiting for 2 games to be played to see who they are playing. If they would add a 16 seed, there would be 4 games on March 12th, 4 games on March 13th and then on March 14th the top 4 seeds would play. They want to have double byes for the top four teams, so it doesn't work as easy with 16 teams. They could do it with all 18 teams giving double byes to the top 4. I worked out last year when Washington & Oregon were announced. I think they'd have to have 6 games each on the first two days to give 4 double byes and 18 teams playing. If you figure 2 hours per game + 30-45 minutes between games, you get at least 14.5 hours needed to play all the games and you'd have to add for games that ran long or went to OT. You could pretty easily end up with 17-18 hours in the arena for B1G network & arena staff for two straight days.

I think it is just exactly that...they byes that they can set up.Seems odd to me as well. I assume they were just giving the regular season "champion" some recognition and a break from playing a fourth game.
"a great team" last year? I mean...I don't know about great.Fred gets a pass for me…he’s a good coach. He put together a great team last year with spare parts…albeit, good spare parts. Tried it again this year, not the same talent level of parts on the roster.
remember when we used to complain about wilcher not being athletic…who wouldn’t want his athleticism back now?![]()
its a trial and error system with portal guys. He’s shown his willingness to adjust his formula. I think he’ll adapt moving forward. Right now, unfortunately, we have what we have…good news is, it’ll almost be an entirely new roster next year. Yay, portal!!!
Adjectives are relative to program history. For Nebraska basketball, that was a great team. For duke…their coach probably gets fired."a great team" last year? I mean...I don't know about great.
USC beat Nebraska on Wednesday night despite shooting just 28.6% from 3-point range (6-of-21). The Trojans became the first team to defeat the Huskers when shooting less than 39% from behind the arc.
NU is now 12-1 when holding opponents to less than 39% from 3-point range. It’s 0-6 when teams shoot 39% or better from three.
I'm ok with Wilcher's 4 points a game staying in College Station.Fred gets a pass for me…he’s a good coach. He put together a great team last year with spare parts…albeit, good spare parts. Tried it again this year, not the same talent level of parts on the roster.

You say you’re okay with wilcher being at a&m but I’m guessing he makes a few buckets in a game like usc off the bench…wouldn’t you rather have a floor stretcher coming off the bench than ulis? Or worster?I'm ok with Wilcher's 4 points a game staying in College Station.
That great team last year was dependent on 1-2 players balling out while hoping that the opponent didn't get hot shooting. A&M athletes ran them out of the gym in the tourney. I'm not sure how much more time the guy has. If he's using "trial and error", which I doubt, I hope this is his last year. Ulis and Meah are flat out terrible.
