Need project ideas

Hey everybody,

So, I'm nearing the end of my news videography course, and my final project is to do a three part series on, essentially, anything I want. Each part is going to be between 1-2 minutes long, and then I will ultimately have to condense all three parts down into one, two minute package.

I don't want to do a Husker sports package (I'd have to go through AD, talk to player reps, get permission, etc.). I can do a feature story, or I can do a news story about really anything going on in the Omaha, Lincoln or surround areas.

So, do you guys have any suggestions or ideas?

 
I assume your in Lincoln, do it on the Taxi monopoly and lack of over-site. Outside of the UNL world it is sort of a big deal, as some other companies are trying to break into the market and they are being stone walled by the city.

Also there is the entertainment district idea.

One that might be a little easier is changing the law for food trucks so they can park on public property and ply their trade right now they have to find private lots to set up. The city is supposed to change the law but has taken no action.

For the first one I would talk to the Chamber of Commerce... I know they are bringing pressure on the council to change the law. Also get a hold of LIBA's Coby Mach, he LOVES to bash the city and their lack of vision, and see if the guy who owns OMA-LNK will talk to you (he has applied for a taxi permit, and is Lincoln local)...

As for the other one, maybe LIBA again, also I would talk to the people running the trucks, I think the Heoya truck was the one that got a ticket for parking to long...

To get the other side you might want to talk to city council members, although they can be cagey...

 
How about something on the epic meltdowns fans have following a Huskers football loss? Or the incessant arguments people have about the sell-out streak or whether or not there should be a "black-out".
