Netflix & streaming video stuff worth watching

Not a big Sasha Baron Cohen guy but The Dictator was pretty dang funny.

Actually getting into the series Scandal now.

Rewatched The Warriors Way, really underappreciated movie.

I've watched about 5 episodes of the new season of Arrested Development. They're pretty "meh" so far. A couple funny parts here and there.

Portia de Rossi looks sick though. She lost WAY too much weight.
They get better towards the end.

Agree about Portia, though. That, and her plastic surgery...though the 'cuter' bit is still fraking funny.

Been watching the series Longmire. About a small town sheriff in Wyoming (modern day). Good so far. Only one season on Netflix though.

I'm so pissed off they removed South Park from Netflix.
south park is still on southparkstudios.com, i believe. but still, it was nice to have it on netflix.

i have been watching the 90's spiderman lately. i loved that show, great bit of nostalgia. and it is not that bad in its own right.

i am surprised there has not been a thread about the new arrested development. i will say i really enjoyed it and even started rewatching it. it is much better on a second viewing. it is a different show and you have to accept that. it almost had to be and i give credit to mitch for his ambition and the scope of this undertaking. some of what i loved most about ad is missing, but it gains enough to make it a quality season. and quite frankly, i just cannot get enough of those characters, even when an episode is a little boring.

also, when michael is scheming the roommate voting situation, then when it fails, then when he has to explain it at the airport was laugh-out-loud funny. as well as his disdain for 'p-hound'. i loved that scene even though a lot of people criticized it.

finally, portia was almost unrecognizable. it was off-putting and took me awhile to get past it. i assumed it was because she lost weight, but she did not have any weight to lose in the first place.

That whole airport scene was great. Nice to see the Workaholics boys on there. "Oh sure, we let people walk on the planes all the time. Do you want a box cutter to take with you too?"

i was mistakenly voted out of a four-person housing situation in a ‘pack first, no talking after’ scenario.

AD Season 4 was a success for me at the end. With the episodes isolated, it's underwhelming, but with the whole story line put together it's a very solid season. I'd still take it over some of the stuff that's currently on TV now.

I tried watching Arrested Development. But just couldn't get into it after three or four episodes. I'll give it another try sometime. Maybe.
You have to make it through the first 6 or so episodes before they start getting really funny, then you can see some of the concurrent themes each episode has. Also, those first few episodes seem a lot funnier the second time through the season. The Tobais and Gob episodes are classic.

On a separate note, I watched Cabin in the Woods on Netflix last night and really enjoyed it. I'm not a huge horror/gore fan, but this one was very self-referential and made fun of a lot of classic "horror movie" tropes. Plus, I'll watch anything even remotely related to Joss Whedon, and he produced this.

Just got around to watching Cabin in the Woods last night. Definitely not your run of the mill slasher porn. Maybe the best slasher flick ever. Sort of like a mashup of Friday the 13th and Troll Hunter with some bureaucratic aspects of the movie Brazil mixed in. I'm officially a Joss Whedon fan--as if I wasn't before.

Yeah, I'm not a huge fan of horror/slasher flicks but Cabin in the Woods had a few twists and seemed a little different than the typical genre. I really liked it also.
