never seen a team

As far as you guys saying that the defense is getting worse every game, you can go sit next to that Ref, Steve Noobchek.

You can't tackle someone when you're getting held or tackled on almost every play. The frustration was quite evident this weekend when Callahan made the cut-throat motion.

Don't you think it's ironic how our sack percentage suddenly plummeted?

If Callahan didn't care about Husker Football, he wouldn't be getting so emotional. And don't start barking job security either, I don't want to hear it.

I think the kids will feed off of Callahan's emotions and win 2 of the last 3 games and be bowl eligible.

When the O-line improves so will the offense.

Keep the faith! :thumbs

As always...GBR! ;)

I have serious doubts if we will win another game this season.  Defense is getting worse and offense.....  well it existed one game this year.  Yet another streak will fall on Peterson's watch when we lose to Kansas.  Why do the Huskers make every mediocre team look great?  I am getting sick of this.   Why did BC not keep up with the short passes in the flats.  Taylor could not hit anything beyond 15 yards or so.  SO pick them to death with the little stuff.  Why does BC not try Beck at QB?  Most coaches realize, when a QB has no rythm going it is time to try another QB to see if something else will work.  It may be that our line is so bad this year he does not want to risk our star QB, so he just hangs Taylor out there this season, wating for great things next year.  Oh well enough bitching.

No offense dude, but that's just the dumbest statement i have ever heard. You want to burn a whole season of eigibility so we can play as QB for 3 games, maybe 4? No coach in his right mind will put in a Freshman QB just for that purpose unless he is FORCED to for injury purposes.
:yeah

Taylor is just getting crushed back there, plain and simple. Why put a young kid back there to get the same punishment and lose a year of eligibility for him to boot? It would be like the same debacle made a year ago in the TT game when BC put in the reserve who threw I believe 2 or 3 pics. My concern at this point is whether or not Taylor will be able to continue to take the punishment the remainder of the season? If he isn't, BC will have a crucial decision to make. Now that he's listed Beck as #2, it doesn't seem like he has a lot of choice in not playing him if Taylor does go down. I would have rather him kept Beck as #3 and finished the season out with Ganz if something happens with Taylor.

doesn't matter that he has Beck as his #2, he will still likely play Gantz if Taylor goes down, especially if it is in the last 2 games......hell guys, give cally some damn credit, i don't think he makes that many bad calls now, he has a plan, just not one that will bear the fruits just yet, he is smart to try to keep Beck out of the

lineup and keep developing him.........let him coach and quit bitchin'

I agree with you quite often Hunter but not this time. The staff has burned RS for guys like Potter, L Jackson, Brooks, and I think Souder (along with some others possibly). They havent offered much to the team at this point.

I wouldnt put it past billy c putting Beck in at anytime this year, even against CU.

Why should every freshman automatically redshirt? You can't exactly stock scholarship players like you could in most of the years of TO.

If the kid is ready, let him play for christs sake. Instead of canning him like tomatoes.

Im not saying anyone should, but to have them come in just for worthless mop-up duty, or to be a part-time special teams player who gets no snaps other than that is a waste of a year.

If they are gonna play, and contribute to a good degree (Turner, Glenn, Lucky) play 'em :thumbs

No way. Cryer and Potter have 2 blocked field goals between them. Special teams is the perfect arena for a kid to get into the speed and attitude of the college game IMO. Run as fast as you can and hit someone. Some would argue that's the guts of football.

I dont disagree with that, but IMO, if you are gonna pull the redshirt, you have to get that kid on the field in other ways too. Or do you lose the year of eligiblity to make a few special teams tackles. He could learn the speed of the game the next year on special teams just as easily.

Dont get me wrong, I have never really liked it when any coach did this, be it TO, FS, or billy c.

does anyone think that a player will lose something if he doesnt atleast get on the field alil bit, even if on special teams. just seems like a year off from game experience could be a bad thing, especially for skill players

if anyone here is stupid enough to think Beck is ready to play, then YOU NEED TO COACH THE TEAM........if he was for christ's sake cally would play him! to think otherwise is just plain ignorant.......hell even Ross said it takes a year for most running backs to grasp the WCO........do you think a freshman QB could learn it any faster? find something else to bich about!

By reading this, I have to think you are talking about Leon Jackson. He is the only one I would agree with, from watching his film, he was such an explosive player and I wish that he could be used more than he is right now, but the coaches must feel he is not quite ready. However, special teams is a very important part of the game and NU has improved this season because of it and the best guys need to be out there for kick offs and punts and field goals.

completely agree... the added talent shows on the way that they are playin special teams this year. the better teams, with good depth, in the country (besides the ones that walk during practice aka usc) have good special teams as well.

wat can we do... we cant get down on this team, it has shown way too much heart thus far in the season. i am gonna be right there rooting along the way, and i think they have a shot at all three teams. why not. if we get a break or two for once, and a different officiating crew, we have a chance to win. keep the faith big red
Exactly! :thumbs

The remaining games are all winnable. With each game comes the chance to win. Don't give up. Would you want the players to?? The season isn't over folks!! :cheers

I mean any of those guys listed. IMO, to burn a RS year for Potter to be a FG kick blocker is a waste. For Brooks to have a handful of plays in 4 or 5 games is the same. Same for Jackson.

I would think that these guys are too important to the future of the program to waste a year for what they have done this year.

Having Potter as a field goal blocker won us a game, and when you have only 85 scholarships available, you better believe that you get those guys out there as fast as possible. Notice how we went from having one of the worst special teams units in the country to one of the best? Maybe, just maybe that has something to do with the fact that our best athletes, regardless of how old they are, are playing on special teams, and dont tell me that special teams is a waste, because It has saved us ALOT of points this year, and even scored us some. We have a near punt return for a touchdown, a punt block for a near touchdown, three blocked field goals, and have good averages as far as punt and kick returns, which translates to good field position and more points. Special teams has probably made a net difference of somewhere in the neighborhood of 37 points this year if you figure those two touchdowns, the three blocked field goals, and another two touchdowns or so generated from field position, or lack there of due to Sam Koch's punting and a very good coverage unit, and I believe that number is conservative. I dont know about you, but to me it is worth the 37 points, or more, to have those guys out there.
