New Big 12?

For the record this probably will never happen. But if it did, I think ISU should go, and I would love to pick up TCU and move OU to the north. Then the north would be stronger, we would play OU every year again, and TCU could play with the big boys like they should. (ya I know Stillwater is north of Norman so what).
ya, thats a great idea.....and boot colorado and pick up wyoming or BYU?
Easy now, lets not get carried away, sCUm will improve greatly over the next 2 years just watch.
good let them improve in the WAC or whatever it is, the way that organization developed a rivalry against us with hatred and gangland style tactics... buck the fufaloes......now they buy recruits hookers and drugs? the college version of the bengals the new coach cant stop that $hit....if he does colorado will never get talent. thats why they were doing what they were doing. i lived in colorada, those are the biggest part time fans in the country, they only go to games for another excuse to drink.
Even though I hate sCUm, I would rather give up ISUck than sCUm.

If they offered better money for us, would we go?
The Big 10/11 might consider NU if there were more TV sets in Nebraska; so, it's not really a question of $$$.

I could foresee a team like Colorado in the Pac-10.... CU really wouldn't fit in with the Big 10/11.

Mizzou is a much closer fit with the Big 10/11 conference's needs than any other Big 12 member.... they got the TV sets to prove it!!

Pipe dream: Send CU to the B12 South. Swap Baylor with the Mountain West for Colo State in the B12 North. Baylor would be more competitive in the Mountain West, and Colo St would be a fine addition to the B12 North.

Another possibility would be to pick up Iowa for the B12 North. This would help out the Big Ten with their arithmetic difficulties.

I totaly agree w/ you "skers" I would not only reinstate a long lost rivalry between OU and NU, but it would definately strengthen the North drastically. TCU already plays Texas, the toughest team in the souht, yearly anyway. Even if Big 12 was to get rid of Baylor for TCU, that would be cool too! :corndance :corndance :corndance :corndance :corndance

Hey guys, I'm new to the board. As I'm sure you can tell by my screenname, I'm a Sooner fan, but I've heard about how great the NU fans are so I decided to see for myself since the Big XII championship kinda left a bad impression of you guys.

So, after all that junk, here's what I'm really here to post. I think if the Big Televen were to raid the Big XII, the team they would go after is Mizzou. It makes a whole lot more sense for them and honestly, could bring the Big XII down a notch in terms of television exposure. By taking Mizzou, they'd more or less steal the Kansas City and St.Louis markets from the conference, equating to huge financial losses for the Big XII. On the other hand, to all the people talking about division realignments, it would be awesome if they would find a way to let our two teams play every year so we could restore the rivalry

The Missouri fans don't seem wild on jumping ship to the Big Televen (nice name ;) ) so if they did go after them, I'm not sure Missouri would necessarily agree. I think ISU is another logical candidate for them to go after.

I'm sorry the Big 12 championship left a bad impression on us: in what way? Hopefully you'll get a better experience on this board. We do have at least one other sooner fan here.

Here's hoping the NU-OU rivalry gets restored. It would be terrific.

Welcome to the Board - be sure and stay throughout the year. We welcome opposing perspectives.

When conferences add teams, they generally do so for one major reason - revenue generation. And that's accomplished through either TV markets or national interest. Of the north teams, the only ones that would ever be considered would be CU or Mizzou (for the markets) or NU for the national interest/draw.

Of those three, I agree with you - Mizzou is the most likely.

I just don't see it happening, one way or the other, though. I think the Big 10 is perhaps holding out hope that Notre Dame might "see the light" one day and join. A perfect fit, when you think about it.

boy i agree, ND would be a huge get for the Big 10/11. And you can bet they know it too!

ND is more likely to join the Big east than the Big 10.

I dont see Missouri heading over that way either. Too much travel distance, and no histories.

ISU and Pitt are more likely options. ISU has the instate rivalry going with Iowa. And Pitt has a long history with Penn State, larger media market also.

If it happens, it happens sooner than later. They need to get that Big 10 Network up and running quickly, and a championship game, and the added drama that divisions can add would be ideal for it.

And who wants to bet that even with 12 teams they still call themselves the Big 10?

Pitt I can see. ISU? I just don't see them getting an invitation. What does the Big 10 gain from it? Not any TV market or new recruiting base; Iowa gives them that. Pitt, despite Penn State already being in the Big 10, is more likely as it captures another major metropolitan area for them.

I agree that ND would probably want to go east rather than the Big 10 - I'm just saying I wouldn't be surprised if the Big 10 is trying to hold out for ND. Kind of a one-sided relationship at this point that the Big 10 wants to make two-sided.
