(WOWT) - Saturday yielded prodigious numbers both on and off the field for Memorial Stadium.
On top of the
Huskers hanging nearly 70 points on the Akron Zips, Husker fans hit the concessions stands hard as the home opener was the
first to permit alcohol sales.
In total, UNL told First Alert 6 that 38,782 cans of beer were sold in the stadium during the game, among nearly 165,000 total concessions items.
For comparison, UNL says that’s about 48,000 more than what was sold at last year’s
game against the Colorado Buffaloes.
The UNL Police Department says there were 20 total alcohol-related incidents at the game, with 11 of those incidents occurring at the gates with people involved not entering the stadium.
In the past, this game would be about average for alcohol-related incidents. UNL Police say night games in 2024 averaged just over 22 incidents per night game, and only 18 when counting games over the past two years.
UNL Police also issued one alcohol violation or ticket, where games in the past averaged about two tickets per game.
