David's quote isn't surprising, but it doesn't mean he wasn't genuine. Most players prefer familiarity and continuity with coaches. I remember a small blurb in LJS last year after the Holiday Bowl recounting the scene at the airport between Ekeler and David as a tearful exchange since Ekeler was officially leaving for his new job at Indiana.Nexus,
In honesty what do you expect them to say?
someone made the exact comment that needs to be addressed in my mind. " Bo may even let him call some of the plays". When in reality the DC at Nebraska should be calling all of the plays, the OC should be calling the offensive plays. My guess is Bo will be trying to do both pretty much all the time. That is a lot of work, and a lot of responsiblity, rather than over seeing the operation. Vision from a short distance is not quite as good as when you step back and look at it. Able to see the whole thing.
It is obvious Bo thinks highly of our new coaches. But I would like to see him grow as a head coach the next couple of years, not spending all his time training new people.
Former Huskers Todd Peterson and Zach Potter cared enough about JP's promotion to offer congratulatory messages via Twitter. Potter's message isn't as surprising since JP was his position coach, but Peterson was a WR. So for him to show support, it must've come from a genuine place? Keep in mind that Potter and Peterson were only around JP for one season before graduating.
If I've learned anything from observing interactions between current Husker football players on Twitter, it's that they're not too caught up with happenings outside of their own locker room. Silly example: Yoshi tweeting "Hey #HuskerNation is ESPN televising our football game this Saturday?"
Between homework, football practice and whatever is left of their social lives, they're mostly detached from daily topics like these under discussion here at Huskerboard until their coaches tell them otherwise.
