Bob Diaco was a semi finalist in 2011 for Broyles award and won it it 2012.  He was more of a foul ball hire.

I understand.  Just think that what Symons has done at SMU of all places with his defense is impressive.

My money’s on Symons. Lots of rumors swirling about him and it’s a Texas connection that Rhule favors. Good get too. Would make sense the announcement would be delayed until after their game on Saturday. 

His defense is getting crushed right now against Clemson, so this must be true. If he’s coming to Nebraska, it’s time to start regressing.

To me, it often seems when an unusual result occurs, we later find out a coach had been interviewing around the time of the outlier performance.  Kind of similar to players being off due to too much attention being on off-the-field stuff.

Eh. I saw SMU give up a ton of big plays. I’d also argue that Clemson’s stout defense created two turnovers, SMU didn’t just give it away. Maybe the interception should have been thrown away. If anything, SMU’s offense kept them in it, scoring more points on Clemson‘s first string than any team did this year. 
 

Sure, SMU’s defense was “fine”. I guess that’s the standard we’re trying to achieve now.

I actually agree.  I just like to dig.  They played reasonable.  It’s Clemson.

Clemson ended up with 326 yards. Clemson for the season averaged 455 yards.

Unfortunately, games are won and lost by points scored, not yards. 
 

I have no issue with this guy as a possible defensive coordinator candidate, but they were very hot and cold last night on defense. Looked like a Nebraska defense. Make some hard run stops, get some big sacks, and then let some big play touchdowns happen over the top. Let’s not pretend like they put on a master class on defense yesterday. They had one of the softest schedules of any P4 team this year as well.
