Yeah, I think it's probably a very thin red carpet so it isn't as slick on the concrete.

Its red field turf, it just hasn't been changed since 2004 and didn't ever had the black pellets iirc so it's just so matted down and old that it looks like carpet. Really discolored too

There was a brick pathway under the South stadium when the tunnel walk came out from the old locker room to the southwest corner of the field.  We got a brick for my father after he passed away in 2000.
