New rule to combat faking injuries coming?

For the same reason volleyball players wear their kneepads on their shins. We did this 20 years ago.

I'm so good, I don't need these pads. I'll be in position.

The bright color is the new "drippy" thing to do. If you pay close attention you'll see players have two different colored mouthpieces hanging from their facemasks. NFHS made a rule this year that HS players are not allowed to have two mouthpieces at a time

This probably makes me a weirdo, but I watched part of one Bears game this year, and watching Caleb Williams chew on his mouthguard and continue holding it between his teeth during plays instead of wearing it about drove me crazy. It bothered me so much I googled the rules and they are not even required to wear them, which made him chewing on his even more annoying. At least Mahomes wears his while he’s playing. 

I predict Williams is going to swallow his during a sack someday and they’ll have to do the Heimlich on him.

The NFL has never required a mouth guard, but college has. It's just never enforced anymore. Kinda like when they made the rule about thigh/knee pad size and position a few years ago, but nobody cares now. Or exposed midriffs.

But mouth guards help prevent concussions, so you'd think it would be one piece of equipment that is strictly enforced in college.

I remember them trying to enforce covering the midriff the year after Ezekiel Elliott ran all over Alabama looking way too sexy.

Players like to whine about "player safety" when it suits them.  But many refuse to do the most basic, long-tenured, simple thing that helps reduce the chance of concussions.  Often for looks.

Let's be real, and drop the hottest of takes, the only true way to care about a player's safety is to encourage them to not play the sport of football.  It simply is not good for the human brain.  I love football, and support those who choose to play, but I really wouldn't want my own kids playing with what I know about concussions and CTE. Luckily for me I have a son who likes robotics club more, and a daughter so I don't even have to have that conversation.

If I remember correctly the NFL didn't even require facemasks until the 90's.

Here’s my list of new rules to consider:

1.  Any time a player jumps up and signals “First Down” his team is automatically penalized 10 yards with loss of down.  We have people that are paid to make that call.  We don’t need players helping them.

2.  Any time a team scores and puts on a demonstrative celebration in the end zone the other team is entitled to pummel the offending player until such time as the celebration ends.  We must allow both teams to feel good about themselves.

3.  All official reviews will ultimately be determined by ESPN network officials and representatives from Liberty Insurance.

4.  If the ball breaks the plane of the goal line yet the player’s body doesn’t, the ball gets the points.  The points accumulated by the ball will be held until the end of the game at which time donors can bid on them.  The winner of this auction will then award these points to whichever team he sees fit.

I don't care about the first down thing.  But I do care when DBs do the seat belt thing when the ball was uncatchable or the DB had no affect on the play

It's not a court of law, so the governing body can do something in suspicious circumstances. I don't think they will as the NCAA and conference leaderships are spineless.
