New ST Coach Mike Ekeler

Not trying to get something started, but did Ekeler suggest we need to get better guys?  Or is he giving a shoutout to 2 guys he coached who went to the league?
The fact that he is posting on social media and throwing the spotlight on ST, tells me he's looking to get some work done..!!   GBR...

We should have better players at most every position, every year.  Either the incumbent improved through hard work and practice, or they recruited someone better.  This is the way.

The story about Fred Warner was the most eye opening. Clearly Ekeler knows what high school players with a lot of potential look like.

I didn't remember the story about the henna tattoo until they told that story in that episode.

GO BIG RED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Interesting note from HuskerOnline:

There is not a single defensive starter on kickoff coverage. Five walk-ons: Wacker, Bower, Booker, Branch and Genatone. Five defensive backups: Conn, Turner, Charles, Benning, Guthrie.

I like it. I know it was a big talking point in the past - the starters are your best players, special teams matter, and it shows they take it seriously - but I've always liked special teams as a way to get fresh hungry dudes on the field. It's like the debate between having players learn one position to master it or learn them a bunch so we can be more flexible. Either can work, you just have to do it well and we weren't even with starters on the units. Get your young athletes and experienced walk-ons on the field.
