From what I gather, it sounds like a lot of this is coming from the 247 USC site/staff. Apparently USC is thinking about making some changes to special teams, but have not yet made any moves, and their current special teams coach is still employed. Supposedly Ekler is on their list if they do make a change, but there's no indication that they've even reached out to him, let alone that the interest is mutual.
I think some of this might be speculation on the 247 guys' parts. But also apparently Schaefer was saying this morning that we shouldn't consider it a certainty that Ekler will be back next year...
