Newton Shooting - 29 dead, 22 children

Terrible situation and my heart goes out to all of those dealing with this in Connecticut right now. As an active shooter instructor the worst active shooter situation to deal with is a school shooting. What we imagine hell is like? Dealing with an Elementary school active shooter......................................makes me shutter and get tears just thinking about it.

I've never thought too much about psychosis being contagious or genetic but.. . ......

there were the two brothers out here on the left coast murdered their parents so....

This is so very very sad. I said a prayer for the deceased and their loved ones they left behind and I hope you all say a prayer too. I don't know what it is going to take to stop this crap, but, something has to happen. Shootings at malls..schools, etc. is getting way out of hand! To parents on this board..give your kids extra hugs and kisses...and give them a hug from me.

Thoughts and prayers sent to all the families involved. I hope that monster finds a nice hot spot in hell.

I feel confusion mixed with anger. Also sadness for the victims and their families. The confusion mixed with hurt the most. Really gives you a ton of things to think about.

Is it selfish to be thankful to live where we do where things like this just dont happen?-not that it happens all the time everywhere else, but you know what I mean-I hope.

I dont even know if I know what I mean.
I would have thought that about Omaha until a few years ago . . . this stuff can happen anywhere.

Crazy people with ready access to firearms results in horrific tragedies. :(

There are two on that list from Nebraska. Unknown to me at the time, I walked right by McElroy as he was getting his gun out of the trunk of his car that happened to be parked on the sidewalk right in front of the building. Figured he had something big to carry into the building and that is why he parked there as people did that from time to time on campus. So yes, it can happen anywhere.

I saw a video of Ryan Lanza, the 24 year old brother who was in NJ at his house being taken away for questioning, and that's all fine and dandy, but how come they cuffed him and put him in the back of the cruiser? is it just policy?? I'm curious because he was in NJ away from the scene, his Dad wasn't dead. Why couldn't they question him in his house, or else just take him in without having to cuff him, he was being cooperative.

It's hard to say. They may have unreleased reason to believe he was part of it somehow. I think in that case, even if there is only a hint of a possibility, they may take him into custody just to be on the safe side.

My heart goes out to everyone involved...My sister just moved from there a year ago and my neice would have been in that school. It makes me sick to my stomach just thinking about it after she called me.

If you have kids, hug them a little tighter and tell them you love them. I can't even begin to imagine the pain these parents are going thru right now.
