Next Question

Next year is our year. Mckeon will be back, Bowman, Keller, Purify, and our ENTIRE, yes, you heard me, ENTIRE O LINE.. ITS ON :bonez
isnt Mann, and Austin seniors? yes, Byford will be back next year and he has started the last 5 games? I will give you him. Keller, as good as he was at ASU, will have had 1 year away from real game time play, and will be rusty, but he will have had 1 year to learn the playbook.

i still think that we will be a really good team next year, but next year is not the year for a NC

What I'd like to see is for the Huskers to be in the top 10 year after year and consistently keeping losses at 2 or fewer (and beating elite teams). If we can get to that level there will be no loss seasons and NCs will come. I hope we can be top 10 next year.

That's probably the most reasonable post on this subject. We need to get to the "elite" level first, then we're still going to need a year where everything breaks our way. Everybody needs to keep in mind that even with all the resources Mack Brown has, it still took him 8 yrs to get there.

I agree with next year being special, and I feel Keller will be a headache for the defenses we face. Will we be a national title contender, If we play texass again and win and win our bowl game, then yes we will have positioned ourselves into the elite next year. any breakdowns the rest of this year and we will have a harder time next year.

Can we do it YES will we I HOPE SO is it probable I DON"T THINK SO.

We are on the right track and next year may be our best chance we have had since 97. Lets hope it happens and it all starts with a road win this week against okie st.

Agreed, but what about 99' if we don't fumble five times a game we beat FSU!

Another thing I've noticed this team has a BOND with each other like I've never seen with a Nebraska team.

The chemistry is awesome. O- line needs to dominate- not be above average(like now.) Secondary-DUH!

Octo Mckeon Dillard- no problem there. Give us a couple more years. Then :corndance

Guys, I'm not one to get into hyperbole. I'm a pessimist at heart, as some are quite aware. Nevertheless, I think we could be really, really good next year.

Remember OU from 2000. We can be that kind of team. We'll be able to run the ball almost at will, we'll be outstanding the BACK 7 of our defense, we'll have incredible skill players. If we can win battles on the line of scrimmage (both sides), we COULD be very good.

But that is a big if. It's up to the players, but the opportunity is there.

The fact of the matter is....we are SO much better already than we have been since Callahan started.

2004: 5-6

2005: 8-4

2006: 6-2 so far...with losses to two very good teams.

If we go undefeated the rest of the season (and we can), finishing with 10-2 record, win the Big XII and win our bowl game....I think this whole thread will be obsolete!

Win the rest of our games, and we'll start talking about how LAST year was our turn around year...and THIS year is just us making a big statement in the BCS.

i dont think anyone on our team now will ever win a national title....

they will get us into the BCS, and win conference ships, but i think a national title is at least 4-5 years off
