NHL 2024-25

The Pens have been treating me right in fantasy. Have both Rakell and Rust and they’ve been good/great the last few weeks.

 
There's no NHL team in Memphis or Arkansas.  What a shame.

After contemplation from watching a lot of Pro Wrestling over the years and some Hockey, I have concluded that I like the Oilers, Flyers, NY Islanders.  

And....  the St. Louis Blues

I get liking the Oilers, they have 2 of the best players in the game. Flyers and Isles…meh. But the St Louis Blues is just a plain wrong answer  :P

Arkansas would be great for Hockey.  Could call them the Hunters or Wild Hogs.  

Oilers and Islanders take me way back. They dominated the 80's and won 9 Stanley Cups in 10 or 11 years.  I loved them.  Do you remember guys like Bryan Trottier, Mike Bossy, Denis Potvin?,  And also, in the late 80's My pops used to take the Staten Island Ferry to Manhattan (NYC) each day, living in New Monmouth, New Jersey.  I went to Mater Dei Prep HS my freshmen year.  Was awesome, minutes away from Sandy Hook (Beach).  Would take the Ferry to Brooklyn or NYC.  

As for the St Louis Blues... I threw that in just for you.   :lol:

Mikko Rantanen headed to Carolina for Necas and Jack Drury and some picks. Not happy.

Thought it might come to this since he wants Draisaitl $14M money on his new contract. Was hoping he would stay for one more playoff run but I suppose the Avs had to get something for him while they could instead of him just walking in FA. No way the Avs would pay him more than Mack and they just don’t have the cap space to pay him $14M and bump Mac up another $3M while maintaining anything else around them.

I guess I’m over my Mikko mourning period. He was one of my favorite Avs players but I do think Necas will do a satisfactory job of replacing most of his production and Colorado is going to have to give Makar a new highest in the league contract next year. If it comes down to Rantanen or Makar, you have to go with Makar.

I am curious what really happened with Mikko’s negotiations. He says he was blindsided by the trade and was willing to take a steep discount to re-sign with the Avs but all other sources say he was demanding $14M Draisaitl money. Maybe his agent was pushing the Avs too hard? All I know is somebody screwed the pooch or somebody is lying or his agent did both.

 
I don't think he can say that he was blindsided. They have been working on this for so long, how could it be a surprise to anyone? It's a bummer, but the typical get something for him before he walks scenario played out here. The rumors about Crosby are interesting...

Well Necas is growing on me very quickly. He’s been awesome and Drury was also a nice addition. I think the Avs knew what they were doing. Just need to add a 2C.

Looked like 💩 at Vancouver but like legit cup contenders at Calgary and Edmonton. Just need to keep it rolling after 4 Nations.

So, anybody watching the Four Nations Face-Off?  USA plays Canada tomorrow, Sat 2-15 at 7pm CST. Sweden plays Finland (they hate each other) before at 12pm.

I was a little concerned it might just be a glorified allstar type game but these guys are playing for real. Nobody seems to be taking it easy or saving their health for their return to NHL games. Something about putting on those national team sweaters I guess.

Wanna see something scary….watch Canada’s PP1 with Crosby, McDavid, MacKinnon, Reinhart and Makar. 😳 Took them all of about 5 seconds to score against a team of Sweden allstars on their first powerplay chance.  :lol:
