Well, maybe Gates will kick it up a notch and do something in the NFL.  

I’d be surprised because because the only word that comes to mind when I think about Gates as a player is lazy. 

 
either he'll stay and be forced to get in shape or leave early as one of our most inconsistent lineman.

He regressed each season. Comparing him to Vincent Valentine isn't a great comparison. There were times his last two seasons that Valentine impressed people with his play.

If Gates doesn't want to be in Lincoln, then there's no point in him staying. College football is hard. I'd rather have three star offensive linemen that want to be there and work than four stars that don't care*.

* assuming that rumors about his work ethic are true

 
NFL can always use lineman.  He'll be alright.  He's a guard though.  Could have a long career, wish him the best

 
I think even if Valentine stayed another year he'd still be a backup in the NFL.

Similarly I don't see much value for Gates to stick around another year.

 
Frost told the team he needed them to come back after break and put in work. Not gonna be cake walk practices anymore. Gates leaves.....Not surprised 

 
Woah, another rumor comes true? I think that’s 2 straight!

Best of luck to Gates! I thought he was going to be an AA. Not sure if that’s on him or coaching, but he has potential.
