This is one of the reasons I am beginning to hate watching football. They are pu$$yfing the game and making it almost 2 hand touch. I understand they are doing it for safety, but come on.and this...
To an extent. There's a stark difference between blocking a 185lb corner versus attempting to block a very strong 265lb outside linebacker with running back speed. Mentality can only take you so far. Now...if they use Niles like Cooley in an H-back type fashion, that will eleviate some issues related to his lack of size.Niles is/was an excellent blocker as a wide receiver and will be at least serviceable at tight end. Besides, blocking is almost more about mentality than physical skillsLet's set one thing straight, Paul IS NOT Hernandez, in any sense of the word. He may be match up nightmare against backers from a quickness standpoint, but he can't catch a lick. Furthermore, blocking from the tight end spot is very different compared to blocking d-backs. He will be completely overwhelmed at the point of attack. They will have to use him like a Cooley where blocking is an afterthought.
Niles will never stick as NFL coaches have NO patience for receivers with hands made of brick.
I can't believe it took them this long to realize he's no longer worth a damn. Can't believe they dropped Cooley, though!
