No homer, but still

I am not playing a "one-sided what if" game at all. In fact... just the opposite. NU did have opportunities that they did not capitalize on --- several interceptions that their poor technique and inability to execute resulted in ending up as lost opportunities. Our (that is, NU's) ineptitude resulted in all sorts of lost opportunity (as it does most weeks)... and our opponents ineptitude (their dropping clear INT's) saved NU from being further exposed. The point is... NU played very, very poorly and won only because NW played slightly more poorly still. No one earned a victory in that game... NW simply was a smidge worse. Both those teams would have lost that night to just about any D1 school. They were both pathetic... and NU was LUCKY they played a team slightly more pathetic that evening than they were.

Because they cannot count on Michigan playing as badly as NW did, then the Sker's better improve dramatically on Saturday night or they will get stomped. Any performance akin to the Ohio State or NW performances (both about equally bad for NU's part) and the Huskers get smoked.

That said... the Huskers have a great deal of talent... largely unrealized on the field... but with the talent they have, there is reason to think that someday they will play up to the level of their talent... if that day is Saturday, the Huskers have a chance...

a good chance.
Wait wait wait. When Northwester drops sure INT's, it's our fault-bad throws. When WE drop ints, it's our fault-poor technique, no execution. Yes, you are playing one sided.

Serious question. Does the sun ever shine at your house?

Nah... when NW drops sure INTs it is both our fault for throws that were questionable and their fault for dropping them --- the result of which helped us greatly. And... when we dropped sure INTs it was NW throwing some fairly questionable throws (their fault) and our fault for dropping them... and there, NW benefited. It was a comedy of errors that night where someone had to win... by default more than anything. And, of course, better us than them (though neither team deserved to win... one just deserved to lose slightly more than the other).

And as for sunshine at my house... oh my yes all sorts of sunshine... even in the Husker realm... it is fun following the Huskers --- even when they are not very good and need change to get better. Now... my favorite sport by far is hockey... and I wish they would drop that NHL puck soon... that has clouds around my head. But not NU football so much... it has to get better soon --- and Saturday is as good a day as any to play well.

Good. Thanks for clearing that up. You were looking awfully doom and gloom for a bit there. :thumbs

Going on 5 full years, when do the IF's go away?

If I remember correctly all that are so certain that we beat Michigan are the ones that say every year this is the year. No more if's.

Well we have another game that is quite important, and normally important games we have a team full of if's.

IF we win the if's will be gone.

IF such a huge two leter word.

Northwestern has beaten a Vanderbilt team, who is very underrated, who has only lost to ranked opponents, with the only exception of Northwestern. All top 10 teams.

The only team Michigan has beaten with a winning record was Purdue, being 4-1 when they met. Illinious, Massachusetts, Air Force, and Michigan State do not have winning records, and none are impressive enough to put on your record as a "valuable win"
Yeah well, Michigan beat Illinois who beat Western Michigan who beat Connecticut who beat Maryland who beat Virginia who beat Penn State who beat Northwestern.

So, you'll be taking NW when they play Michigan?

Northwestern with a Bi before that game, yes. Fitz will have them guys ready. Like I said before, you stop Robinson, you stop 80% of their offense. I think they are a better coached team, and they have only lost to us and a VERY good Penn State team, who, like I said at the beginning of the B1G season, was the best in the conference.

you think PSU is better than OSU? Really?
At this point in time, there's quite a few that think that.

Ohio State (8-0, 4-0) at Penn State (5-2, 3-0) – 5:30 p.m. ET, ESPN

Tom’s pick: Penn State, 31-24 – The Nittany Lions will roll on to a sixth consecutive victory behind the red-hot hand of quarterback Matt McGloin and a defense that continues to play above expectations

Brent’s pick: Penn State, 28-24Together, the two teams have won 13 consecutive games. However, Braxton Miller hasn’t faced a defense like this since the Big Ten opener. Only difference is, Penn State has an offense to make Ohio State pay.

I'll give you the coaching because I agree that NW has a better coach, but it's not by a wide margin. The talent or athletes on the other hand goes hands down to Michigan. While Michigan hasn't exactly been a worldbeater away from their home stadium under Hoke, they have been really good at home (undefeated I believe) which is where they'll be playing NW.

LOL. I don't know how you did that but it was funny how you put the victory chain together. I'll take the silliness one step futher. We should expect to get beat by 89 points. :rollin

Thanks for showing I was not the only person who seen this. The media has had a blind eye towards PSU, until this past weekend, when they put a hurting on a very good Iowa defense. I have watched a lot of our competitors this season, Michigan, Michigan State, Iowa (girlfriend is a Hawkeye fan lol), OSU and Penn State, and the only team I have been impressed with since Week 3, was Penn State. Not only from their play, but from the chemistry they have grown together. McGloin is a hell of a QB. The most underrated QB in my opinion.

Yep.

Why is it that any time we beat a team with a mobile QB we "get lucky" and we won in spite of ourselves and then it is like the game never happened.
Because this team turns around after a good performance and gives us UCLA or tOSU.

It's not fair, but until Nebraska can start handling them consistently, the stigma is still going to be there.
