Casey does at times put some zip on the ball that receivers can't handle. He appears to be trying to temper the short throws a bit.

That's a classic sign of lower arm strength and over compensation.  It shows up in those no touch bullets and also in inconsistency with deep balls.  Having to work harder to get the ball there means less touch on placement.

Word is that the backup safeties are still learning and that's why there hasn't been much rotation there.  Brown got a few snaps against Northwestern but wasn't running some of the concepts correctly.
