North Texas vs. Clemson

KC,

How did North Texas wind up with over 40 minutes of possession and about 460 yards of total offense and still lose? Did Clemson just play a short field? Did you guys have huge yardage plays?

Man, it wasn't pretty. Not at all what I wanted to see. It was a solid win - in the sense that UNT never really had a chance, but it wasn't necessarily dominating either. I think we played very very very vanilla and will continue to do so until our game with Auburn on the 18th.

I think that part of the problem was UNT had a new OC from South Florida and our defensive coaches didn't really know what to plan for. I guess you could say Clemson played very "bend but not break" defense. As for the time of possession, Clemson scored a 60 yard td on the second play of the game, then scored the second touchdown on the opening play of the drive, then the third TD was scored after a UNT TD with only 1:45 or so left in the half. I'm not sure what the time of possession was in the firtst half, but it had to be even more lopsided than the final score.

Sounds like you guys have some kinks to work out like Nebraska.

How's Spiller's replacement working out for you guys so far?
There's no actual replacement, more of a RB committee. Jamie Harper is the bruiser, Andre Ellington is the speed guy.

Ellington: 12 carries for 122 yards, 2 TDs...

Harper: 9 carries for 102 yards, 1 TD...1 reception for 8 yards, 1 TD

Surprising to some, but not really to me...Spiller's loss is not going to be as big as losing a consistent WR...that's who needs the most work.
