Nothern Illinois grabs Southern Illinois football coach Jerry Kill as their new HC. Kill was diagnosed with kidney cancer a couple of years ago after collapsing on the sideline during a game. He put off needed surgery, and didn't tell his players until the season was over, so as not to distract them.
Southern Ill was a perennial doormat before Kill took over, and has since been in the running for the FCS national title. They fell to Delaware last Sat in the semi-finals.
