Northwestern: Biggest Game in Bo's Career ?

My concern for tomorrow is not about Pelini's future.....it's the hope and confidence that Armstrong and Kellogg can keep the chains moving.....and that we can find the solution to making tackles from the LB spot.

Who in the hell is saying that a win against NW is meaningless and it's a lose-lose situation this week? I mean sure a sloppily played game with more questionable coaching decisions is probably a lose-lose scenario even if it results in a victory but, a well played complete game would show me quite a few things and would not be meaningless in the least. The fact that NW is on a losing skid and does not appear as formidable as they did 5 weeks ago really raises the expectations of victory but it also makes them more dangerous too.

This is the players chance to prove they want this staff to stick around. The team is playing for the coaches who are coaching for their jobs and that is pretty much the way it will be for the remainder of this season. That is not meaningless in the least. It just means there is little room for error.

I am actually looking forward to this game. I didn't think I would be five days ago. We've got an opponent who desperately needs a win to begin salvaging their season and our team is literally playing for their lives, so to speak. If our team can't muster up an effort in this situation, it should be abundantly clear to even the pumpiest kool-aid pumper that things are not right. I'm hoping for the best effort we have ever seen out of a Pelini team. It's now or never fellas.

Wow. One of the few fans that is actually willing to talk about the next game that we have!

To clarify,

Not much will come out of this game to tell us where we are as a football team if we win. Why? Northwestern isn't the same Northwestern that they were during the non-conference part of the season. They have been ravaged by injuries and have struggled to put up points. So, if we hold them to 7 points, people are going to say, "Well, it was Northwestern." If we score 55 points, people are going to say, "Well, it was Northwestern."

The only new information that we can get from this team and how it performs against Northwestern will be if we lose. Thus, there's not a whole lot to be gained, but a whole lot to be lost.

Michigan and Michigan State will define this season.

 
It is. Lose this one and Bo will know it's over.

If he wins this one then next week becomes the biggest. He's coaching for his career the rest of the way and he knows it.

I'm sorry for finding little tid bits of humor there!

Being prepared and well coached in all facets of the game should be the 1st goal of this team. Maybe I am wrong, but just my opinion.

Yes. I'm as disappointed in the offensive and defensive production this season as anyone else. But rather than just fire away jabs at Pelini, I'm more interested in specifically what he's doing to take us to the next level.

I stand corrected. Apparently there are people who feel this is a lose-lose situation. I guess this is what happens when people lose sight of "how" you play and focus on only wins, losses, or points.

If we play well and beat NW 55-7, only a moron can attribute that to it only being NW.

Should be an interesting game Saturday.

While some would like to see Nebraska just go ahead and lose in order to get the whole Bo chapter over with, I would love to see this team come out on fire. If they want Bo, they need to win for Bo. They need to play like they haven't been playing. Then they need to do the exact same thing the next week.

It's possible. Maybe more than possible. There's a lot of talent on this team. And the Big 10 shouldn't strike fear into anyone.

Worst case scenario? A hard fought loss against a talented Northwestern team also fighting for its life.

Or maybe a lifeless turnover plagued win against a Northwestern team that has given up.

That would just prolong the misery.

Not that I'm disagreeing. It's not something that can be out of the norm, and is probably standard procedure in times like this. But just curious if youre hearing this from someone who saw it happen or if youre just speculating something that in reality, most likely has happened.

Then there are a lot of morons in Husker nation. We beat Purdue 45-7, and Illinois 39-12 (effectively) and people said that it was just Purdue or just Illinois.
